Re:Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.2 on Saturday September 05, 2026 @04:49PM (#49580507)
Yes, journals are harmful to freedom of knowladge which might seem ignorant especially to people coming from academia and mainstream who doesn't know better and can't imagine anything else besided wallen gardens they grew up with.

Arxiv is dominated by CS [1] and nothing really changed over the years [2]. Saying about pushing the boundaries of scientific methods it was another rock into journals and the status quo on how it's done like p-hacking and other data manipulations. Being in open with community notes would would have a difference.

Empirical research can exist without journals, science can be for masses and journals are antithetical for sharing making the knowledge exclusive.

why keeping journals as an argument on the tech site that was always less formal with mandatory institutions but more open source. Journals discredited themselves multiple times. tech is expanding boundaries of scientific methods and AI will push it more.
Re:Stop Making TUIs on Saturday August 22, 2026 @03:20PM (#49402922)
Contentious topic but I have hard time comprehending line height scroll instead of smooth Web like experience and everything rendered in the same font size. I guess it’s a habit for people who started early and never got to use web applications enough to develop distaste to TUI scrolling patterns.
I feel your take will be taken down soon as it’s not the place for such discussion.

Just food for thought: what makes you to feel so entitled to judge people place of living? You know how we are not choosing where to be born and our mobility is restricted a lot of times? Is your separation for man and women comes from religion or other bias to categorize them?

Re:Show HN: Skir – like Protocol Buffer but better on Sunday March 08, 2026 @03:47PM (#47300583)
Like this but zero copy, easy migration/versioning, Rust and WASM support.

Re:Gemini 3 Flash: frontier intelligence built for speed on Wednesday December 17, 2025 @01:55PM (#46303842)
Gemini 3 are great models but lacking a few things: - app expirience is atrocious, poor UX all over the place. A few examples: silly jumps when reading the text when the model starting to respond, slide-over view in iPad breaking request while Claude and ChatGPT working fine. - Google offer 2 choices: your data used for whatever they want or if you want privacy, the app expirience going even worse.

Re:Claude Opus 4.5 on Monday November 24, 2025 @02:03PM (#46037794)
Yes, the first run was nice - feels faster than 4.1 and did what Sonnet 4.5 struggled to execute properly.
Re:Claude Opus 4.5 on Monday November 24, 2025 @02:00PM (#46037755)
Great seeing the price reduction. Opus historically was prices at 15/75, this one delivers at 5/25 which is close to Gemini 3 Pro. I hope Anthropic can afford increasing limits for the new Opus.
Re:Agent Design Is Still Hard on Saturday November 22, 2025 @01:04PM (#46016781)
My experience with BAML was really good. For structured outputs, JSON schema is slow and sluggish while BAML performs well. Interestingly don't see much attention on HN, wondering is it hype of other SDKs or BAML doesn't deliver enough.

This is how Germany pushing towards digital sovereignty.
I’m glad not completely off with my bet 5 years ago that Rust will get larger chunk of the market. With the spread of AI Rust feels like a good candidate among Typescript and Python giants in a an era of coding assistant tools that needs a good nudge like Rust compiler.

Show HN: Speech-to-text CLI in Rust with Nvidia Parakeet-local, fast, extensible

https://elvin.engineering/blog/2025/09-10-para-speak-cli/

Hey HN! I built Para-speak to fit my workflow - I wanted something simple: press shortcut → talk → press shortcut → text appears at cursor.Existing tooling wasn't sufficient, and at the same time NVIDIA's Parakeet model was showing excellent results online, so I wanted specifically to try that.Para-speak is a Rust CLI that uses NVIDIA's Parakeet TDT model running locally via MLX on Apple...

Re:What makes Europe better than America? on Saturday June 28, 2025 @01:46PM (#44406646)
I came to the same conclusion and am working out my way back to Europe. I find that France has such a nice quality of life. The only disadvantage for non-native speakers is the need to learn a new language, every country in Europe has its own language which still restrict mobility, and that's the biggest hurdle to becoming part of the community.
Re:Local-First Web Development on Sunday February 19, 2023 @10:05PM (#34864503)
imo the ecosystem is weak for a local-first apps. I'm dreaming about e2e encrypted local-first database that would be easy ti plug in and store encrypted on the server. From the tooling perspective, WASM seems a good choice for most likely embracing through Rust.
Vue 3 adopting modern features without npm build. You are correct that it's not framework dependent and this is the reason for my comment. The post starting about the build process following by how awesome new Vue is. IMO it two different points and build process is not making Vue unique but the post indeed.
They are introducing a new framework but making statements like it changing the game. Probably for one that dislike JSX.
Re:Introducing ChatGPT Plus on Wednesday February 01, 2023 @11:27PM (#34622075)
using BTT since discovered in 2016 and it's essential. Time for a lifetime with a new version, there a lot of things how you can make Mac more pleasant for your use. Thank you for the app!
Re:The Triumph of Safari on Saturday January 14, 2023 @01:37AM (#34377859)
Safari on iOS is plainly wrong for users, it's stopping the progress.
Yet gov banned nuclear energy; now it's becoming ridiculous.
It's not the first time the user making similar claims regarding Ukraine, such as [1] falsely claiming the country support nazi groups.

The claim of about 30% is inaccurate in the roots and Jonas Ohman words taken out of context [2]. Anyway, the investigation should be done but the commenter misleading everyone by trying to convert the theoretical 30% into $$$.

Additionally, the links that you provided in other comment misleading even more: 1. Providing a link from 2010 when Ukraine had a president Yanukovych and resulted in the maidan. 2. Survey with 25 responders.

It seems like Big Corps are afraid of PWA. Apple made a lot to make it harder to make a web app in ios safari; not talking about PWA.
Re:Rich Text Editor for React on Wednesday June 22, 2022 @02:04PM (#31839587)
Indeed, it seems that copy-pasted playground with custom UI. They didn't bother themselves even to create at least some new plugin for it.

Playground plugin: https://github.com/facebook/lexical/blob/main/packages/lexic...

Copy paste: https://github.com/ozanyurtsever/verbum/blob/bfac38815eb0057...

Made a PR at least to credit the authors https://github.com/ozanyurtsever/verbum/pull/3/files

I tried most of the existing editors and worked with some of them a lot. Lexical have a nice declarative API; so far, enjoying using it. Even without proper docs, I quickly got an idea of what it is and how to develop. React ecosystem lacked a proper text editor and lexical is really promising.
Re:Ask HN: Where to Search for Remote Jobs? on Wednesday July 01, 2020 @09:07AM (#23700896)
Besides 'HN Who is hiring' I'm looking at aggregators

Also, you can find remote jobs in those decent list of companies https://www.levels.fyi/still-hiring/

Re:Show HN: Boardist – personal workspace for all the data on Wednesday March 04, 2020 @03:20PM (#22487608)
We are more about data organization and management while Trello is more about list-making
Re:Show HN: Boardist – personal workspace for all the data on Wednesday March 04, 2020 @03:12PM (#22487534)
Sorry, it's my bad that people start comparing my service with Trello. In a nutshell, we are more about data organization and Kanban is a small feature that is baked in.
