If it helps at all, enough to build a canning factory according to Wikipedia.

Their food culture is the problem. Obesity is a massive issue for islander communities in NZ and the country at large, and there are plenty of other cuts of meat available.

I'm surprised it hasn't been made automatic.

The article was written on August 29, 2013 but iOS 8 was only released in 2014.

For curiosities sake, I decided to take a look at healthcare.gov, put in a random ZIP code picked from New York in google maps. When I tried to look at individual cover I got an ACCESS DENIED. Is it restricted to US IPs? Seems like an odd thing to lock down.

[edit] I got to that link from this working site: http://healthbenefitexchange.ny.gov/ which I got to from Healthcare.gov

Ask HN: What would you 3D print if you had a printer?

On Saturday I'm picking up a 3D printer I just bought. I've got some ideas for things to make and some models I've made over the years but I'm curious what other people would use it for if they had one. My flatmates and workmates fancy guns but I don't have my firearms license yet so I'm holding off on that front. And if you do have one, what do you use it for?

Re:Visualizing fissile materials on Sunday December 14, 2014 @12:33AM (#8747548)
It always amazes me how dense materials get as you move through the periodic table. For example, a cup of mercury would weigh about 3kg or 7lb!
Re:Sony Got Hacked Hard: What We Know and Don't Know So Far on Thursday December 04, 2014 @03:50AM (#8698418)
Is this a hack of a division of Sony? Because the executive names I found don't sound white. http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/CorporateInfo/executive/

When you raise your right hand so does the image. Mirrors flip front and back not left and right.

Re:iMac with Retina 5K display on Friday October 17, 2014 @12:25AM (#8469418)
I always enjoy the irony of the pictures in these ads. Those displays look awesome while using a quarter of my 1080 display.
Re:Twenty years, only a few tears (2009) on Thursday September 18, 2014 @01:56AM (#8333925)
"If I can get a job in the games industry, ANYBODY can. Not at my company of course. I would never hire somebody as unqualified as I was!"

Reads to me like he got ahead because somebody took a chance on him but he refuses to do so for other people now. Isn't that the core reason the younger generation hate baby boomers?

Re:Ask HN: Little hacks that make your life easier? on Saturday July 19, 2014 @12:14AM (#8056667)
Resealable sandwich bags. I use them to portion food, either raw or cooked, and freeze. It means even if I'm working 50+ hours this week I can cook a couple of meals on Sunday and be sorted for the week. It also means that, since I live communally but cook by myself, I don't have to eat the same meal for four days in a row.
Re:How tall can a Lego tower get? on Thursday July 17, 2014 @05:06AM (#8046567)
> as high as you want

I'm assuming you're spreading the weight, but lego bricks have quantised sizes, wouldn't that put a limit on the rate you can spread it?

Why not just give bike lanes a pedestrian crossing button?
Re:Troubled welds on the Bay Bridge on Monday June 09, 2014 @12:14AM (#7866989)
I've worked for a company (electronics design/installation) that desperately underbid competitors to get as many jobs as possible, then the boss piles pressure on the workers to get the job done at an inhuman speed. Inevitably, up fucks occur and the boss has a shit fit, you get in trouble and have a black mark against your name. Not fun all around.

The lessons, not every job is worth doing and always allow margins for mistakes.
