why does it sound like the crux of your argument against Ed is "why is he evolving his position"? Are we supposed to respect someone less for not being dogmatic and holding onto an opinion against mounting evidence?
Re:The AI Coding Velocity Trap on Wednesday March 04, 2026 @02:13PM (#47252356)
What about first mover advantage though? Some people believe it's all about being first to market then let others have to convince people to switch to their products. I also think velocity won't matter. But I don't think the companies pushing their employees to use AI are thinking of anything other than "others are using AI and moving fast therefore we need to keep up".

Special mention also goes to Taming Silicon Valley by Gary Marcus.

Everyone seems to only want "senior" developers.Of course, I'm not sure how far true that is in practice and how many of those companies may compromise when they can't find anyone who meets their high standards, but it does strike me as odd how the industry seems to be on the verge of just...

I did not anticipate this much traffic, working on restoring it right now
A few bad updates borked my Linux install and cost me hours of potential work and left me with a deep fear of installing updates. No idea what I'd do if I had a car that needs updates

Paying to reduce the number of ads is like going to the hospital to get only part of a tumor removed
