Re:Just the Browser on Friday January 16, 2026 @08:50AM (#46646317)
I still use Firefox but I, frankly, feel it's stagnated. On mobile I'm in the process of changing habits to something else (auto reflex sometimes still opens Ffox, but lately I'm circling back to opera, which I stopped using on desktop what... 20 years ago?)

All this to say, I don't think Mozilla is doing much with all the telemetry data it's gathered all these years

Yep. Free market and all.

It's just that your feelings are so fragile that you can't stand having different points of view. And this react childishly

Re:Paperless-Ngx v2.0.0 on Wednesday November 29, 2023 @09:34AM (#38459768)
you can use an opensource tool for scanning, like NAPS2, which will let you rotate before you mail it to paperless-ngx
Re:Argentina's Milei backs away from dollarisation on Friday November 24, 2023 @05:26PM (#38409076)
Mwahahahaha

I guess all the miles voters will start doing weird explanations like magaqs in USA , to justify it

Demo confused me. So you add one by one text/url and then the codes are generated add images on a zip?
Bulk as in.. Sequentially generated urls?

Foo.com/path/doc001.htm 02 003 etc?

Got a box now. They're good but nowhere the hype, I've seen brands costing a tenth writing almost as good
Re:What tool do you use for bookmarking? on Monday October 09, 2023 @12:57AM (#37817041)
I?ve tried linkace, linkding, roughly the same, I use linkding as my main "save a link to check out later"

also tried benotes, which I find better designed visually, but is a bit buggy atm

Well.. do you have a comparison to navidrome for example? I appreciate your enthusiasm but before I migrate my library from navidrome , what are the benefits?
are you me?

I've been using my navidrome instance for the past 6 months (on those free oracle machines), and I can't be more happy about it, specially with android app thing. Seedbox provides fresh stream heh of new music I'm actually interestd on

Re:A Math Problem Generator on Sunday December 18, 2022 @10:03PM (#34047864)
yet, he's right.

these are "exercises", not "problems" they don't involve creative thinking. look up the difference on any text about "problem solving"

a tablet can also be used on other contexts.

the fallacy here is that they spend the money ONLY for taking notes

Re:Mathics: A free, open-source alternative to Mathematica on Saturday November 05, 2022 @12:32AM (#33477992)

Looks like written by some Chinese/Indian Musk fanboy
Re:Chicken and the Egg, for 5-year-olds on Friday June 17, 2022 @11:43AM (#31779893)
it's not a "sudden" change there's no "first chicken", no "first human", no "last ape", no "first human that mated with last ape" either

just gradual diverging changes , and then at some point one branch is different enough from other branch that we call them separate species

so the answer to your connundrum is explaining your kid this, not explainign that a human mated with an ape

Re:Chicken and the Egg, for 5-year-olds on Friday June 17, 2022 @09:28AM (#31777842)
species A becomes subdivided into 2 variants Ax, Ay those being the same species, can mate (think for instance, citrus variants)

but somehow they get separated, and start evolving slowly different, and here's the crux, at some point the genetic changes no longer allow viable reproduction should they mix again, at that point they have evolved into separate species

it's not that Humans (Ax) came from ape (Ay) but rather they evolved out from some common ancestor (that may or may not still exists today)

when they say "humans descend from apes" does not necessarily mean from actual current modern apes

and the flaw in the child's reasoning is that presupposes a linear change "from this point on, we have humans, before, we have apes)

that's enough simplification for a 5 year old?

markdown all the way

you can use an external editor and then paste into the blog

Re:Saved.io on Friday March 11, 2022 @12:09AM (#30636469)

Re:Favorite Note Taking Tool on Sunday February 13, 2022 @10:19AM (#30322215)
pencil & paper

for specific contexts, I like obsidian

I WANTED to like notion... but capturing notes on the go from mobile is unpleasant and you can't check your notes if you lose internet access...
