Yeah, those real-time notifications of "{User} has done {Action}" always raise my suspicions that the website is a scam.
Since they are almost always on dubious looking ecommerce sites, or scammy betting or crypto web applications
Once it's backed with a scripting language like Python or Lua it will be a very compelling Flash alternative (even though Flash is long dead now).
Is it still a viable option for designers to use the last non-recurrent-subscription version of Adobe Creative Suite?
Or in 2021 is Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo just the best single-purchase option right now?
Would this technique have been faster?
A single pass: paginating through all entries in the bucket without deletion, just to build up your index of files. And then using that index to delete objects in parallel.
Nice! very easy on-boarding/signup flow. The only hiccup I had was on the first screen for signup, the Facebook panel is so prominent (while the email signup is far less so) that I thought the only sign-up option was to use a Facebook account... almost closed the tab and moved on.

Could you expand on this? What security vulnerabilities does Exim4 have that you'd avoid just by choosing Postfix as an alternative?
Honest question (I have no actual ASIC experience, I'm just curious)
Where are you getting the USD1500 price tag, I've just done a quick search and I only found a bunch of S9 Miners (Bitmain Antminer S9) advertised for over USD6000 on Amazon.
The date for completion on your book is December 25th. Is that DEC25 2017 or was the slated date DEC25 2016 and things have slipped a little?
Do publishers act as a reliable source for validating your idea? or do you rely purely on your audience, if you can validate your audience directly then you'll be able to get a far more accurate prediction of demand for a book than from the opinions of a publisher's agents.
I read this and assumed it was just an early April Fools Gag.
Actually, I'm still not convinced that it isn't linked to April Fools.

I've consulted at a two places in my country that have upgraded their adhoc VMWare setups to VxRail (converged storage and compute or something).Looking at the vendor costs and what benefits an organization seems to get from a VxRail appliance I didn't really see it as a justified purchase for any organization. So I've started research on VxRail and reading case studies etc. One thing I've...
Whats wrong with Electron Apps?
My big question is why? you wanted to navigate or display a JSON dataset using filesystem-viewer tools? i.e. "Explore" the JSON dataset?
netlify looks great, and the free tier covers probably 90% of what all SMEs need. I'm curious, where are the sites actually hosted?
Does netlify provide the actual hosting or they allow you to setup deployment to a VPS? Also if netlify does the hosting, how good is their uptime/availability?
Github Pages does pretty much everything you've listed. Also Github Pages explicity allows companies to setup and host their corporate websites on there.
PROS: It is free, always available, and the deploy is easy once you get the hang of git.
Wouldn't a better option be an error log? you reply to the client that "I can accept 398,500 of your 400,000 submitted records, attached are the records that do not conform to the expected template. Choose either to (1) submit only the validated records and discard the malformed ones or (2) reformat the malformed records and resubmit the entire batch"
Can you actually setup multiple SQL Server 2016 Express's in a cluster? That'd be interesting given that it's free, I wonder what the limitations are?
Do they have any sort of pricing page? It seems to be buried down in their site somewhere, I can't find anything.
You could tie your cheap or free Openshift/Heroku to multiple free BackBlaze B2 storage accounts.
Depending on how 'grey' you're willing to behave you can get away with doing a lot on a virtually free infrastructure.
Managing one app on one machine (physical or virtual) is a significantly different problem from needed to manage dozens or hundreds of applications/servers.
When you need to automate the entire deploy process, possibly scale up or down the number of servers/services running based on demand, or to run the same operation across hundreds of servers: that is when you need Kubernetes. Trying to do any of these tasks manually when you're dealing with a large number of machines/services/servers becomes unmanageable very fast.
Is there a market for remote Haskell developers?
I've found a pretty distinct lack of functional developer jobs in my region. Though I was surprised to find a local software company that has specifically recruited several Clojure developers.
I remember a few years ago when I moved my Linode from Fremont to Atlanta to avoid the frequent outages. I've never had show-stopping issues with Linode and the customer service has always been fast and responsive. Now though, I'm thinking of moving to their Frankfurt datacenter.
But now I think I need to setup fail-over with another VPS provider. What's a recommended alternative? Is Digital Ocean the next best choice after Linode?
That "search engine" looks like it was never really build to be used. I searched the term "blender" and got this:
`ErrorException in getResults.php line 45:`
https://neuromama.com/get/web/blender
In both cases the developers have committed to a pretty big monthly payment for an app that serves hundreds of thousands of users.
4000USD is a huge amount and even 100USD monthly is a lot to spend out of pocket without a plan to recover that money. Do they have any plan of making money out of these sites or are they purely CV/portfolio pieces?
Great to hear an alternative story (i.e. a non-exit or IPO story) out of Silicon Valley.
mega.nz does not have the great desktop/device UI that dropbox has, and also Kim Dotcom has stated it can no longer be trusted after the company was seized by the New Zealand Government. But it offers 50GB to any new account. How do they manage to do this? And what is stopping someone from just registering a bunch of accounts on mega.nz and using that as their primary cloud backup? (maybe with the addition of encfs or something)
Which android phones are you using? I'm guessing they can not be too old.
Pricing for AWS Lambda is complicated, but reading the examples clarifies things... a bit.
Is The Lambda free tier something separate from the free tier you get on first signing up for AWS? I used up my AWS EC2 free tier years ago and I don't think you are eligible again once you use your free tier. I wish they'd put regular pricing at the top instead, i.e. for someone who doesn't qualify for the free tier you start paying from request #1.
If this is a hoax, I really don't understand what a Craig Wright can materially gain from claiming he is Satoshi. Unless he's playing some sort of long con, where he claims he doesn't want publicity or to profit from it, but then accepts a deal from someone to trade his non-existent genesis block Bitcoins for real hard currency. It'd be like a grifter in Las Vegas claiming he was a Sheikh or a Saudi Prince and refusing all inquiries from public, but then allowing one person to reach him and then swindling that person in a deal.
Or maybe the 'real' Satoshi Nakamoto offered Craig Wright a big chunk of bitcoins if he would claim to be Satoshi, so that his true identity would never be revealed.
I was recently trying to compile a list of laptops guaranteed to be free from UEFI Secure Boot (mainly because I've have a friend who bought a second-hand laptop with Win8(I think), with plans to install Debian, but then after about a week struggling, he decided it was next to impossible to install).
Anyway, instead of compiling that list I just decided that in future I'd only buy (or recommend to friends) Chromebooks, machines from System76, or MacAirs/MacPros. Maybe now I should add few HPs/Dells to my whitelist.
