This is cool - I tried automating different recipe formats/visualizations at
https://www.gobsmacked.io. I was thinking of trying to do something similar to this next.
Maybe not the most pertinent place for me to share my recipe site project (as it uses a model for reformatting recipe structures), but by rehashing recipes into recipe cards it incidentally but effectively removes the fluff:

I agree wholeheartedly - in fact the css class I actually use for the 'notes' column is MEP, for mise en place. That was the original intent for that column but it has become something of a catch all over time. I wonder if a mise en place component at the top of the recipe, in a separate grid, would be useful?
Would be happy to discuss! Shoot me an email so I can understand a bit more, email can be found on my site in my bio or on gobsmacked!
Thank you for the note! I appreciate the feedback and will test out some bigger sizing, as well as check out the recipe saving.
Thank you! I agree completely. Right now it just uses the units in the original recipe, but being able to toggle between the two is definitely something I would like to do.

Hi HN,I have been working on a project which can automatically convert a recipe to the tree/graph/tabular style notation that pops up on HN every now and then. It's still early days but I am keen to hear about improvements I can make to the recipe presentation. For reference, the earliest example I have seen of this style of notation is from 'Cooking For Engineers'...

I like this execution! I created something similar, www.pigeon.ooo, with the intent of eventually adding some scheduling functionality but alas, my own schedule has filled up so have not had a chance yet.

I wonder how many layers of irony we can get here.
For a second I missed the irony here, genuinely thought to myself 'wow that would be awesome'. Just joined my first fantasy league so I am gung-ho on fantasy now, apologies.
Thank you! I would do if it wasn’t just the place holder page. I just like the domain name we chose, I have clarified in the original comment.
Nope! Nothing there yet, I just get a kick out of the domain and wanted to share it, even if a bit premature.
Ah I love this ask HN!
I'm building an iMessage app (www.pigeon.ooo - nothing here yet, I just get a hoot out of the name) that brings note taking into iMessage. I built it because I wanted to be able to save/pin messages so that I wouldn't have scroll up to find important pieces of info. You can also share the lists directly through iMessage so that the others in the conversation can update the notes, which has been particularly useful for grocery shopping lists and weekly planners with my S/O.
Currently working on a companion app so that I can view all notes not segregated by conversation, or ordered by due date etc.
It hasn't been publicly released yet but it will definitely be net negative. Doesn't matter though because it's useful to my friends and I plus has been fun to build.

What other file manager cleaning procedures or organizational schemes do you maintain?

Sapiens - Yuval Noah Harari. If you have not given this a read yet it gives a good overview of how humanity (and civilization as a whole) developed.

On a hunch, probably not. I would assume equivalents of any of these products can be bought on an English language site (Amazon etc.) and in my experience the US & Canadian market will go for the most friction-less purchasing experience. Trying to figure out a German language site (plus trying to figure out currency conversion) makes me think why bother when I could purchase something similar in 30 seconds. Perhaps if these were unique products that couldn't be bought anywhere else I would consider it.

This is just out of curiosity, but what do you believe the buzzwords of the future are? Assuming all variations of the almighty "AI" are buzzwords are the past?

This is really neat. Would love to see a version for guitar as well, but would be a little more difficult to display I imagine.
Not sure if it was intentional or not but I enjoyed the irony of putting two Amazon links to the book "The Box" directly in the article.
