Disagree on the tokenmaxxing end. People are still doing it (and I'd argue more people are doing it due to wider adoption). Its just that most low hanging coding adoption has reached saturation point very quickly (which is genuinely impressive).
Now, they need to unearth new use cases and saturate them to keep the momentum going. Its unclear if they have found these opportunities and can turn them into sustained growth.
The important part is the trend. US is a great country today but it was greater a decade ago.
As someone who worked in US and left it long time back, last year was the first time I could hear ambivalent views on US from my friends who work there. They are still in US as they make a lot of money but have started to consider the alternatives.
I disagree. Not counting employees as shareholders was the main kicker. There was a reason Google and Meta went public so early in their growth story.
There was a rule[1] pre-2012 that forced public disclosure (akin to listed companies) for private companies when it had >500 shareholder (which counted employees with shares). This made it so that companies had a choice to stay private with all obligation of public disclosure or go public for added benefit of tapping public market.
In 2012 this was relaxed in JOBS Act which relaxed the 500 threshold to 2000 but more importantly it ignored employees so now private companies of gargantuan trillion dollar valuation and thousands of employees have no disclosure requirements.
So, this is a classic case of regulation that did well but was relaxed and now creates hidden risks.

Never happened. Zuck considering running for president was just hearsay.
Surprised that people are still quoting a decade old rumor.
The irony of your comment is that these chinese evs are made by some of the most heavily automated manufacturing lines. (Not disputing that there are exploited workers here)
But I hope you aren't buying any phones, laptops which indeed have lot of exploitation and sometimes even slave labour (see cobalt mining in DRC). Or not buying any supermarket meat, eggs or milk. It is incredibly easy to pass a moralistic judgement.
Probably tells us that without labs explicitly training/tuning the models or designing the harness (with fast oracle) the LLMs aren't going to get good at those areas.
Double if you include the family
Article says that there is an increase of 40% from 2024 to 2026 for political donations.
Interestingly, the NASDAQ over the same time has also grown 40%.
I think the opposite. AI Companies use the term collaborate to increase the trust in the LLM output.
I trust the output of colleagues I am collaborating with and have an assumption of some shared responsibility. But if I use a tool like numpy/matplotlib then I am accountable for the conclusions I come up with. I can't make an excuse that "matplotlib" created a plot so my decisions were incorrect and not due to my own negligence.
I don't think we should assume that there is a universal law of gravity that will automatically swing this pendulum in other direction.
All human-caused fires aren't arson, most of these are usually negligence (source: worked in operations at fire service). Not discounting the risk of arson but I find it is used a lot to distract from conditions making the forests a tinder box.
The immigration policies (or mass-deportations) that Mullvad co-CEO is supporting with political donations cannot be achieved without mass surveillance and secret police.
It is really not difficult to draw this line to spot contradiction between co-CEO's personal stance and the company's mission.
I assume advertising. But I'd claim that the money is actually going to anthropic and to a lesser extent openai
These are the same execs who count their flight time as working hours but refuse to do the same for their run-of-the-mill employees commute time.
Opus Fast Mode is 30$/150$/M Input/Output cost.
Mythos's pricing (from model card) is 25$/125$ Input/Output cost.
Based on this I doubt that Mythos pro is too dangerous to release or provides significantly more value.
Canadian news might've been easier to replace with American news outlets due to the deep ties between the two and the shared language. I doubt this would be the case for Italian news.

I am very skeptical of the argument that companies are competing with each other on market share. There is arguably a lot more competition between AI companies than in most of the sectors of our economy.
I have been using it to learn Chinese along with other standard resources. My reading comprehension has improved a lot after I started to use LLMs to understand sentence structures and grammar.
> And so the paradox is, the LLMs are only useful† if you're Schwartz, and you can't become Schwartz by using LLMs.
I have gained a lot of benefit using LLMs in conjunction with textbooks for studying. So, I think LLMs could help you become Schwartz.
Data centers can run on closed loop cooling systems which doesn't need continuous water supply. Only bottleneck is Energy supply which the MEA area doesn't lack.
Thanks for correction. I looked up the news and could find reporting that some fragments of a missile did hit kindergarten. Thankfully no kids were there.
I'd edit my previous comment but I can't.
Your comment made me realise that while Iran has attacked a dozen countries, they have yet to attack a school or a hospital.
Not condoning anyone but shows the priority of both sides.
The fact that percentage of older population increased is a dead giveaway that most young people are migrating (to US most likely) and more akin to exodus.
A very similar pattern to Venezuela which saw a similar exodus.
I'd also add that it is easy to underestimate the water usage.
Desalination could be viable if it was only for subsistence/drinking. But water use is extensive in every single product/service we use and thing we cconsume. Cost of water going up across the board will have effects that shouldn't be underestimated.
This is real. I work at one of the big tech and have access to their internal head count breakdowns. The overall headcount is mostly stagnant but the US headcount is decreasing with a corresponding increase in Europe and mostly India based HC.
My first thought was that the sanctions are due to investigations into US presidents (like role of Bush in Second Gulf War or Obama/Clinton's role in Libyan Civil war) but it is due to Israel's PM. It's amazing how US admin is making their displeasure known in most destructive way (for their own and allies soft power) possible.
> Hypothetical scenario: we have 100 houses, and 200 young families looking for one. Your solution in effect is: let's give 100 houses to the 100 young people with an inheritance
This assumes that each family only gets a single house. With enough wealth you can buy out all the houses (not considering other factors)
