Not sure if I'd trust a Chinese model that was brainbeeped by an Israeli company any more than the original model.

Btw, tar(1) on MacOS shows the file currently being processed when you hit Ctrl-T (i.e. when it receives SIGINFO).

And talking about signals, dd(1) can show the amount of data it has processed as well as the throughput. The signal depends on the implementation(e.g. SIGINFO for MacOS, SIGUSR1 for GNU).

How about 0x2007BEE2?
Well, this universe might be God's own AI slop.
Some people will now argue it was the chisel—not Michelangelo—who created David.

As a side note: This is the most impressive page I have laid eyes on in a very long time. Nothing but calm and content. Beautiful!
Is it just me or is Turkey being put in the rogue state corner recently?

> they do not actually give the user access to general purpose computing in the sense that the users can control exactly what computations the device is going to execute

What prevents the creation of an App that allows one to do exactly that?

If your game uses more than 1% CPU and 1% GPU when paused you're doing something wrong.

A damn blurred screenshot should not make the GPU consume hundreds of Watts.

If port 502/TCP is open you can probably access it via Modbus protocol. Implementing a Modbus client is trivial.

My rebranded Fox ESS hardware has it enabled and there's even official documentation of the so-called "registers".

I prefer the term "classic coding".

The first link's broken as it includes the semicolon.
There's a slash missing at the end.

The use of HAL 9000 in the top divider is a nice touch.

Regarding 1, that's like saying the Mongols beat the US at owning China (and most of Asia for that matter) by 700 years. And counting.
Tobias Engel's initial video about this was "Locating Mobile Phones using SS7" given at the 25C3 in 2008:

Let's also add a link to the handwritten version for good taste:

So... the next step clearly is ChatGPT adding Ads to its output.

I'd rather see laws to have it disabled by default. People who don't mind can then opt-in again.

Re:Why conversations are better with four people on Sunday December 15, 2024 @12:36PM (#42424681)
Four people seems to be an interesting threshold when it comes to groups. The British special forces, for example, started doing four man teams and several units of other countries followed their example (SEALS, KSK, etc).

The phrase "SSL added and removed here" from an NSA slide comes to mind.
Re:The mystery of why left-handers are so much rarer (2016) on Thursday October 10, 2024 @07:18AM (#41797695)
I used to have the same problem. Switching from pencils and pens to keyboards fixed it for me. :)
Graphics cards are already dead for me (as a causual gamer). I recently bought a used notebook with a 12th Gen Intel Core processor and it can run an impressive list of games.

One version of this is to use a bare repo, as described in https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11070797

A sneeze-hickup combo is also _very_ painful.
I still miss the flexibility of the originals Opera's UI. As well as the built-in email client.

Fantastic. But needs support for URL parameters to change things like the default units.
Thank you for sharing this! My 5-year-old daughter occasionally has canker sores. I just checked her toothpaste and it contains SLS.
