I had a kinesis before they did the cool new upgrades with cherry switches and whatnot. I will probably buy one of those, now.

What's particularly great about them is that you can set them up vertically so that your wrists are completely neutral. Same concept as a vertical mouse, and similarly restrictive in its functioning.

Most people probably don't need this level of relief. Idk.

god, YES! i needed this reference in my life today :)

Ask HN: Books/Articles for Non-Programmers..?

I work with a lot of people who are not developers. I often find that their lack of grounding in any of the hard sciences means their mental models are not really that well developed. Many of them just also do not have research backgrounds. In spite of these shortcomings, these people are immensely capable, talented, and motivated - in their own ways. I would like to broach the topic with them...

What sort of problems did you experience with jitsi in terms of the connectivity you mentioned?

Any sources? i tried to google but i'm only finding stuff about the supplements he takes, nothing about history of selling them himself.

Id like to have a chat w. you about all the above. How can get in touch?
>If you were creating a new system, would you include a clause that says: just in case I'm getting this wrong, let's make sure it's an unalienable right for people to have weapons in case they need to kill me?

I didn't grow up in the US, but being exposed to US political discourse, I always took for granted this right wing talking point (though I thought it was ridiculous from the outset). Thank you for providing clarity and a decent looking source on something that, as you point out, makes no sense once you think a little longer about it.

>as much as I detest socialism, I don't see a peaceful way out of where we are not involving the "tax the wealthy... a lot"

Socialism != taxing the wealthy a lot.

Maybe part of your "hatred" of socialism comes from a misunderstanding of it? I make the suggestion because the rest of your comment pretty much outlines some of the many major problems with unlimited accumulation and concentration of wealth.

Wow, CNBC is really going all out to propagandize here. No mention of Saudi led war on Yemen, which would obviously motivate the Houthi's to attack Aramco (the Houthi's quoted in the article even make reference to the "aggression" of the Saudi Monarchy against Yemenis).

Instead, they jump right to Mike Pompeo (on Twitter, no less) denouncing Iran and concluding that there's "no evidence" the Houthis are responsible.... ridiculous.

What is the net benefit of classifying as an employee of this LLC?
Israel is absolutely not the boss. The US only started caring about Israel after the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, when they clearly demonstrated they could effectively suppress their Arab neighbours with military might. It is the same as supporting the most powerful warlord in any other state (Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi, the Shah of Iran, countless others), but projected over an entire region that also happens to contain Saudi Arabia.

This is also why the US has been funneling israel billions of dollars in aid to develop its military industry over the past few decades. US has gained plenty from this alliance, it has projected power in the Middle East through an ally that is terrifyingly overprepared for war, allowing it to maintain the artificial order in the Middle East and petrodollar dominance.

>In this a City with the 0.539 Gini coefficient, why people hate the government on the other side than rich oligarchs? capital owns media.

This has perplexed me to no end. The straw that broke the camel's back was an extradition treaty being proposed, and not the crushing living conditions that have been worsening over the past two decades.

Sounds like you are a native. curious why you think this is the case outside of the oligarchs owning media. If that's the case i can't see why the CCP is complaining they lost control of the narrative via the press, if they never had it in the first place.

Re:What Stress Does to the Brain on Friday July 26, 2019 @11:53AM (#20535704)
re: childhood development - Arguably the more interesting work on this is how particularly intense acute periods of stress that would register as "trauma" predispositions an individual to things like much higher rates of ischemic heart failure, diabetes, and other health conditions that we might not typically relate to trauma.

Then there's all the standard stuff you might expect, emotional dysregulation into adulthood, drug and alcohol abuse, suicidal behaviour, etc.

See Dr. Vincent Felitti's Adverse Childhood Experience studies for more info.

Would also recommend Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk's lengthy tome, "The Body Keeps The Score". Been recommended on HN several times before (including once by me, I think).

Haven't checked out some of these other titles (only know of pete walker, loving "From Surviving To Thriving"), thanks. Do you know about EMDR? Worth looking into, IMO.

Every so often on HN someone recommends the book "the body keeps the score" by dr. Bessel van der Kolk. Im a fan, so I'll do that here.

A chunk of the book talks about intergenerational transmission of trauma. The rest of it is a fascinating insight into the mind-body connection. It's Thorough and well worth the read.

I have the same issue as above. Right before bed is typically suggested for bruxism, etc. Magnesium has also been shown in a study to improve sleep quality, though I don't remember the exact mechanism.

I might have an absorption issue though. Magnesium salt topical spray (less costly than pills) helps intantly unclench my neck/shoulders, and theres extant literature on that being an effective method of administration.

That sounds like a fantastic message to impart to your community.

Can you talk a little more about where that message comes from, the specific forms it takes, or maybe point readers towards other sources that talk more about Salt Lake City? I'm embarrassed to say I know next to nothing about the city or surrounding state...
