Nope. The TV stores all the data it harvests and scans WiFi in search of an open network. Whenever it finds one (and LG could make commercial agreements with Telco operating open WiFi’s to use them) it will connect and exfiltrate whatever it found.
It’s malicious.
Yeah, until Trump (or whoever is president at the time) tells them to.
What will they do when the alternative is broken bones?
Why not try… master is now main after all
It’s not just about credit. Mortgages require money and money comes from working a job.
R&D and its practitioners are already under mighty pressure to justify their existence, if credit is taken off the table it’s the end of it as a means to survive (let alone comfortably).
To counterweight all the cynical takes about soldering RAM being a conspiracy to force device obsolescence, I can think of at least one other dynamic that could have resulted in today's scenario: smartphones.
Smartphones also need RAM and are especially subject to requirements of always being thinner, lighter, and have a durable battery, yet have spacious amounts of RAM.
Growing demand for smartphone RAM pushed for its optimization and production scaling and since all its requirements also match laptops, this convergence was inevitable.
Hopefully the growing demand for datacenter RAM density will make modular interface standards like LPCAMM2 more available (soldered has no place in datacenter).
No, vulns have been created by waves of leads clinging to their personas of “computer sorcerers”, gatekeeping, excluding anyone sounding the alarm or more humbly attempting to fix the mess. Whenever I hear “with great power comes great responsibility” (and the implication that the speaker is condescendingly containing the irresponsible) I cringe so hard that my teeth crack
it's the same "trusted compiler" argument, only at a different level. Though at least here you could -- if you wanted -- check the generated source.
interesting, I've been working on something similar myself... do you want to have a chat about it?
yep, and Sony Music Entertainment auto-ensured shareholder value was maximized
My only true worry is if AI begins to see us as competitors for resources, energy in particular.
It could decide to let us starve and die of exposure to secure all energy resources to itself.
We'd better use "dumb" and "not fully assertive" AI to solve fusion before it spins out of control (or alignment).
I don’t understand, the Florida law is about making threats and announcing them in public. But discussing this with an AI isn’t the same as posting them to Facebook
She’s glorious in the movie, though she does play the part of an extremely high maintenance woman uncannily well…
Like the parent wrote: one “patent” is a miniature vibrator, something like those found in cheap sex toys, the other consists of poaching people working on the frontiers of knowledge, corrupting them to steal such unique ideas for money.
Tell me you’re not so thick
Oef, still kicking the “communism” horse. It’s dead Jim, especially in China it’s dead and buried
Well, we can reduce every human activity to 0 value and take it from there: if there’s no value in understanding there’s no place for humans in the process, we can just go back to worshipping stones and let the AIs burn tokens deluding themselves chasing their hallucinations
Well, doing the most immoral and reprehensible thing on the edge of what’s lawful is a guaranteed “blue ocean” strategy so it’s inevitable that the most sociopathic will take the opportunity

Don’t expect anything to be decided by this cabinet. Springtime elections are pretty certain IMHO
Sure, depends for whom.
“Rules for thee, not for me”
“No one out there is just eating spoons of sugar because of its addictive properties.”
Says who?
Go check how much sugar is dissolved in soda, it’s more that a spoonful and ask yourself why?

It’s the second of third year in a row that this happens.
At some point it will be the new normal.
Yeah, but go tell that to the judge who’s just about to slap you with a sentence.
Unless you want to fight that all the way up the judicial food chain

Well, that was the whole point of the 2A: effective preparedness.
But gun manufacturers ragebaited this exceptionally effective marketing campaign around their products and here’s where you folks stand
There are other forces besides market prices... regulatory compliance comes to mind..

the [somehow] is pretty clear: exploitative working conditions.
