Yeah, I'm on e/OS so good luck with that
Re:Swedish government offices to ban ChatGPT and Claude on Friday October 23, 2026 @09:01AM (#50208330)
That's why they backpedal on screenshoting entire screen, keeping images on device and feeding them to LLM? Yeah, for me all of them have 0% trust. Malware used to need to be installed, not part of OS
Re:Is this the new cyber normal? on Friday October 23, 2026 @08:37AM (#50208026)
I have the same experience. Most of articles I read was reducing it to "just a tool, nothing more"
Re:NixOS is making me less afraid on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @11:30AM (#50182696)
And how much disk space this takes?
Re:NixOS is making me less afraid on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:23PM (#50169688)
Nix will install me clickhouse on 2 devices at once, create restricted networking between 6 devices?
Re:NixOS is making me less afraid on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @09:48AM (#50166403)
Personally I prefer ansible plus I can easily manage multiple machines but this is a little but different use case. I have 5 micro PC like orange pi, Raspberry pi, radxa... so I prefer to bootstrap them from I laptop with a single command in am event of failure

Also everything is running in kubernetes isolation so my OS is immutable and consume much less disk space than NixOS (I don't have too much of it and future is looking bleak in this department)

Welcome in current Polish politics. Konfederacja from our ground in currently playing to be buddy buddy with winning party and is treated as semi part of current government
Re:Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @12:24AM (#50161332)
Ukraine in recent days destroyed bombers with drones. They were faster and dodger than any heli you could send. Also drone can go low but still in the air, heli most either land or stay relatively high.

Also heli is much laughter and easier to spot

And the lost of why would you not send it goes on and on

Re:Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @12:11AM (#50161260)
It's not. Ukraine roads are filled with armoured vehicles which needed only 1 hit to become roadblocks. To be functional Ukrainian army is transforming them into Mad Max like vehicle before sending to fight and they still are a little more safer because if drone pilot is skilled enough and adjust both vehicle and drone speed he might succeed in hitting weak spot. Changing direction to left or right on bumpy road when you chasing with max it's possible can be death sentence plus you must take in the equation all trash on the road with may destroy weals

In other hand you have 3 axis plus if you reduce proportion you can at any moment without adding any power dodge enemy. Skilled operator may be able to hit and this is why they added swarm of suicide drones to protect carrier

This was implied between lines
Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:40PM (#50155401)
My boss is young, passionate guy overhyped with LLM claiming at least once a weak my and my colleague days are counted and LLM will fully replace as and we are cost.

When I joined I thought this is peaceful place, after a month this changed tremendously.

And this is third job like this in a row so I have no hope to find anything even slightly as peaceful as 5y ago

Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:32PM (#50155307)
Not every request is meant to be served below 500ms and this is server which supposed to be called couple of times a minute not milliseconds

We started with caching but this created a new kind of problems of its own (veterans know what circus of man eating from outside out clowns this create) but client was mad manual refresh is causing "freezes" in the system.

So we ban LLM and problem solved until client starts asking why ChatGPT, Claude, whatever he prefer can't access data and release him/her from pain of using brain

Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:23PM (#50155190)
In other way I must use LLM to fix issue created by LLM in the first place
Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Monday October 19, 2026 @12:58PM (#50154819)
With LLM and current economic situation my job is doing 5 things at once and after 7:30h my brain is just in panic mode. On remote this isn't a huge issue but in the office (which I'm obligated to be twice a week) I just don't know what to do so I eat 3 meal 5min each pretending this is normal.

Then the next day after this brain haemorrhage inducing experience I just waste 2h remotely on gathering mental capacity to simply know what next I need to do and next 2 says I repeat until weekend.

Simply because my boss is developer in love with LLM and machine gunning 20 PR daily.

Not to mentioned PR with more code than I can reasonable can understand and say anything about it in a project I didn't touch.

So, currently I can only say I hate my life. I'm looking for an idea which pays similar but is as mindless as humanly possible

Ukrainian army is using LLM in drones and they are opened with this so here is your prove
Re:Websites are closing their doors to AI agents on Sunday October 18, 2026 @01:01PM (#50142921)
Dude, I had a 1Gb of nginx logs daily then I blocked them and it dropped to 10mb weakly.
Re:OpenAI discloses four more rogue incidents on Saturday October 17, 2026 @02:56PM (#50133946)
For those who think OpenAI is not responsible for actions of their LLM lets do an mind experiment. But before it can begin we must setup the stage. It's well known fact OpenAI disabled their safeguards and it's well known they validated LLM behaviour using software and software only

So if we have a IT specialist, let call him Tim. Tim is working on b2b contract. Tim has a task, he needs to download a lot of data from API. Tim is very good in programming so he created software to help him download it but there's a limit. But he needs more so he bought 3 small VPS but this is not enough. So he modify it to have Command Center, publish his code and ask Reddit to help him. After 10 minutes this causes DDoS and company quickly discovers he was responsible. But Tim know there's simple solution to this problem. It wasn't him. This was fault of the code not him

Re:Thunderbird for iOS on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:49PM (#50076675)
I'll throw my nickel to this comment. I use swaywm with i3bar, you literally can go lower with that taste but I'm at least aware and honest with my taste. Dia looks like ChatGPT web client. It's mediocre at best
Re:Thinking will become a hobby on Monday October 12, 2026 @02:19PM (#50060535)
This sounded really like elitist thinking. I don't know what most of the people do but I know my wife is a caveman of we are speaking about technology but if we start taking about law then suddenly I'm half brained chimpanzee with banana in the nose trying figure out why I can't drink it

Even my uncle who work as a carperter proved to me to know more about math and physics than I would ever thought physical labourer would know.

In UE even cow meat is banned because of how unhealthy it is.

From European point of view even bread sold in USA is Molotov cocktail

Depends on what exactly you want to change. Lsp can do a lot but only in very simple changes.

Intellij when I used to use it had a lot great features like refactoring, extracting part of code as a function, renaming and creating empty classes/boilerplate but that's it

In current job I can order LLM to take data sink from other endpoint and write new with given URL. It will fetch from endpoint, check what it gives, compare with other and write new sink. Then it needs polishing because it always create something as awful as possible with cloning data all around but the most boring and soul sucking part is done

Re:Why don't more developers "use the platform"? on Sunday October 04, 2026 @09:52AM (#49953955)
I was early adopter of WebComponents and honestly they are terrible. If only they would have at least CSS layer which would be passed and I can reset styles and shadow root would be accessible ass private property and every element with id world be accessible through private property so I don't need to store them in weird way of query them.

Then I would consider them acceptable

In current state they are unusable beyond simple components

Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Sunday September 13, 2026 @05:13AM (#49681765)
Also Warsaw here and I'll do everything to keep my kids away from all those trashy "social media" which had been proven to hard society more than helping in anything.

It shorten concentration time significantly, promote false narrative who is successful and who is not and promotes pseudo science

Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Friday September 11, 2026 @07:12AM (#49656440)
And TikTok is not available for minors in Poland yet a know 11y old who publish there so yeah, good to pretend
Exactly, sorry for bad description
And how many people who were on site survived and for how long?
Also it worth mentioning deaths caused by respiratory diseases from coal power plant pollution. This goes in millions
And died horrendous dead? Because guy who did this was in nuclear plant and was buried in lead coffin in closed zone.

His skin was falling from body while he was still breathing

1. Chernobyl disaster was not related in any way with nuclear plant normal functioning. It was "experiment of how low output reactor can go" proposed and exercised by people without knowledge or experience. It's monument of why government officials should not touch anything related to science

2. Chernobyl nuclear plant was very poor copy of safe by design nuclear plant. It had critical flaw in carbon based proton catching mechanism

3. Closed zone is currently habitable (except Sarcophagus area). You'll receive much higher radiation dose simply by flying to Norway. Nature is returning there, there're plans to repopulate it

4. This was in Soviet Union and power plant was "public". Most of the power plant in EU is public if not every single one. I don't have exact information on this topic

Please do not treat entire technology, which is safe, as a threat simply because some greedy, uneducated people from the past wanted better position and paid ultimate price for it
