I invest in real estate in Spain and this is not true.
Re:Wealthy people are renouncing American citizenship on Thursday August 05, 2021 @01:32PM (#28076888)
This is incorrect.

We're working on a fork of Standard Ebooks focusing on Spanish.

We're actually looking for Spanish-speaking collaborators:

Re:Ask HN: How do you transfer money internationally? on Tuesday August 05, 2014 @01:52PM (#8138272)
I'm very happy with Kantox for B2B transfers. It has a matching option that side-steps banks and brokers:

We have a free migration tool that you can use to move your email in and out of Google Apps:

Re:Fred Wilson's Email Stats on Saturday October 27, 2012 @10:57PM (#4707999)
We don't have a response rate graph yet. We do have a time before first response rate graph. Fred is comparing the total number of emails that he gets vs he sends from/to certain people, which is not the same as response rate.
Re:Fred Wilson's Email Stats on Saturday October 27, 2012 @03:07PM (#4706919)
My original submission title was "Fred Wilson's Email Stats (and the secret to getting a response from him)". Looks like a Hacker News moderator edited my title, even though Fred talks about the secret to getting a response from him at the end of his post.
Re:The myth of the eight-hour sleep on Wednesday February 22, 2012 @10:50AM (#3621283)
No, we don't. In Spain, some people take a quick 30-minute nap after lunch, but I wouldn't call that sleeping in segmented blocks.
Re:US visa woes? Pah. Try getting into Spain on Monday January 09, 2012 @11:36AM (#3443111)
I live in NY and the situation is much worse here than in the cities I've lived in in Spain (Madrid and Jerez). Spain's internet and cell coverage is generally better.
Sorry. Actually, you are right. I thought you meant exactly the opposite. I will delete my comment.

We just sponsored an H-1B and a J1, and all I can say is to be careful about advice on forums. It's good for background, but get a _good_ immigration lawyer.

Re:Once Greece goes... on Monday July 04, 2011 @10:54AM (#2726687)
Spain's public debt is not high by European standards. It is still less than the public debt levels of Britain, France and Germany.

I started http://www.MigrationBox.com in Chicago, now about to graduate TechStars in NYC.
Re:Ditch Starbucks and work at the library on Tuesday February 08, 2011 @01:51PM (#2194228)
That's how we got started. Our university let us book private rooms for 2 hours in a row, so we reserved 6 hours every day (we're 3). We did that for 3 months. The library manager thought we were doing some class project and helped us get a good room every day :)

Re:What happens when an entire country legalizes drug use? on Saturday January 15, 2011 @09:03PM (#2108395)
It's the same in Spain. You get a fine (around $500), but you don't go to prison.
Re:Tell HN: Chicago Holiday Meetup (Help Us Schedule) on Sunday December 19, 2010 @02:51PM (#2022346)
I'm in. Any day before January 3rd works for me.

PS: tptacek, I'm one of those who emailed ;)

I love Linode, but I don't get anywhere close the type of bandwidth I get with 100tb.com. Can you recommend other high-bandwidth hosts?
Re:Ask HN: Where did you go to college? on Tuesday December 14, 2010 @12:31PM (#2004914)
Technical University of Madrid. I love the city but the university is generally out of sync with reality and passing is very hard, let alone getting good grades. Illinois Institute of Technology. I love Chicago too, but it's cold!
Re:Immigration for Startups on Wednesday November 17, 2010 @03:30AM (#1913460)
Amen. That's exactly what I'm doing.
Can't be done. At all. I've spent many hours trying.

Re:Ask HN: How much a 'Promoted Tweet' costs on Twitter? on Monday November 01, 2010 @03:41PM (#1857892)
GrubHub (venture-funded Chicago startup for food delivery) advertises heavily in the subway. One of the founders Mike told me that it works very well for them. A few years ago the Chicago rapid transit system was sloppy in replacing the ads, so they got a lot of days of free advertising.
