Having a slow day, I found myself dumbscrolling Youtube Shorts and found something actually interesting.

That was an unusual mechanical game! I have to know more. I quickly found the original creator Tim Hunkin and his Youtube channel, a hidden gem by itself.

https://www.youtube.com/@timhunkin1/videos

Featured his own video of the Divorce arcade machine.

with a blog post about the making of the machine, way more interesting than just play the game.

And some 'grisly themed' (as he said) machines like the PET OR MEAT machine

https://www.timhunkin.com/a169_petormeat-writing.htm

Apparently inspired in some very old machines depicting executions for a coin. I'm still getting into this rabbit hole.

Usually you try to avoid overhangs but this experiments makes you realize of the true limits of the 3d printer. I'm gonna try the Pin Support Challenge next weekend.

Re:Show HN: Serve your saved articles to a Kindle on Monday March 14, 2022 @06:29AM (#30670652)
Yes. I was reluctant to buy a Kindle to read my already owned ebooks but using Calibre to sync to my Kindle it's really simple.
Re:Show HN: Serve your saved articles to a Kindle on Monday March 14, 2022 @06:24AM (#30670625)
Tagging/highlighting cross my mind but I did want to keep this project as simple as possible. Tagging could be possible if I include a sqlite database but I don't think highlighting is possible in the Kindle web browser.

Outside of this project you can get tagging with TagSpaces[1] desktop app and highlighting with the SingleFile[2] web-extension.

>I wonder if/how they'd work on a non-Amazon e-reader?

If the e-reader have a web browser it would work without problems, maybe adjusting css properties a bit.

Re:Some tiny personal programs I've written on Monday March 14, 2022 @05:50AM (#30670380)
I save articles into HTML files with TagSpaces or SingleFile to read them later but I could not find a way to serve them easily to a Kindle Paperwhite and read them there.

I create this simple project to fulfill this need. It was just a weekend project that it's already valuable for me.

That sounds lovely. Please encourage her and help her. It's an amazing feeling when you put your work on the web on a safe manner as a kid.
