Having to suffer through two mediocre seasons is a dealbreaker in 2026 to be honest.

> Alas, when I want to actually leave feedback on the PR, I have to open the browser, navigate to the relevant line in the diff, and (after waiting for several HTTP round-trips) type my suggestion into a text area

This doesn't seem like much of a problem, does it? It's a matter of alt-tab and a click or two.

Also, what is the point of having reviews in the git history?

Serious question, why would I use this? I searched for a topic I'm interested in, in English, and got barely related results in various languages (Swedish, Spanish).

On YouTube, the first result for the same search is an amazing playlist, in English, on the exact topic I searched for.

Are you English, and your wife American, by any chance?
This is what I had in mind. Sorry for not being clearer.

Ask HN: How to come up with a useful, coding hobby project?

I get bored on weekends. Of course I go out and do things, but I also find myself bored at home sometimes with not much to do, lots of mental energy, and not in the mood to watch TV shows or play video games.I'd love to start a hobby project that:* ..would teach me something new (i.e. TCP protocol, or redis, or..) * ..would keep me "entertained" for potentially 100+ hours * ..I would NOT be...

You should try to answer this question on your own, it should be a fun exercise.
Seriously I live in Warsaw and there was no winter this year. Just a 6-month long October. Very depressing but good for low energy consumption I suppose.

Which podcast?

Genuinely: why?

Re:Jazz Is Freedom on Tuesday January 17, 2023 @04:48AM (#34410757)
I also struggle a lot with jazz. It's very rare for me to find a record that I truly enjoy. Lately I tend to listen mostly to "elevator jazz" playlists on Spotify, which is kinda easy to listen to and helps me focus. "actual" jazz requires more concentration and it's just generally not something I'm in the mood for most of the time, that's for sure.
Re:Jazz Is Freedom on Saturday January 07, 2023 @04:24AM (#34286551)
I also recommend "Feeding the machine" by Binker & Moses
Depends where you are. In an expensive restaurant (serving real truffles) this is a completely reasonable request

You must be under 26-27 years of age? Because that sounds exhausting to me, but I would have enjoyed it a few years ago, probably
Re:The best and worst of 1994 and predictions for '95 on Tuesday August 23, 2022 @05:23AM (#32562351)
Is it just me, or is this an incredible prediction for 1994?

> Smart searches. The first intelligent agent software packages will emerge, allowing Net users to ask for a specific piece of information like "What is the population of Fiji?" or "How far is Saturn from the Sun?" An agent will go out on the Net , find the information, and return it without the user knowing the source.

The downvotes are because their comment is pointless and not adding anything to the conversation

Small world :)

Wow, you have a great memory. Yes I was. I wrote a (terrible) guide to C when I was 13-14 years old.. :D

Re:Walking Venice on Friday July 08, 2022 @06:15AM (#32025133)
I'd recommend Vicenza and Verona. A single train line connects them to Venice, too.
Yes! I'm so sick of this trend. Why does everything need to be subscription based nowadays?

They want to hire 17000 more people: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-07/atlassian...

If this would be your genuine reaction, congratulations. You belong to the 0.001% of the population that would feel this way.

> That means that if I’m chatting with a friend in New York, the audio data will take about 50ms to get from them to my computer, and, say, 200ms—4x as long—to get from my computer to my ears. Since high latency ruins the natural flow of conversations, I’d like to eliminate as much of it as I can.

For whatever reason this isn't a problem for me. I work with a laptop connected to my WiFi, use bluetooth headphones, and have 2-3h of meetings per day. Not a problem whatsoever.

I assume it's mostly because not many decent software developers want to suffer Banking's work environment

Re:Ask HN: How can I prepare for hard economic times? on Monday March 14, 2022 @04:19PM (#30677708)
That was exactly my point. It's absolutely not easy to do. I laughed when I read that.

Because that's easy to do for everyone?

Re:The joy of building a ray tracer, for fun, in Rust on Tuesday January 04, 2022 @02:13AM (#29792235)
That raytracer is impressive. For a gentle introduction to raytracing, I recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q84TQ91/

God, really? I can't take those for more than 1h at a time usually. Except Chrono Trigger I guess. Any recommendations?

I'd bet Amazon tech workers in Gdańsk and Warsaw have more purchasing power than their German counterparts
