while this tries to present a nice tidy picture and dump all progress and technological development to somewhere near the holy land of certain peoples even a wikipedia lookup would reveal serious flaws

indus script dates back to nearly the same as sumerian and egyptian around 3200 bc with some potsherd markings dated further back to 3500 bc

if indus script was related to sumerian it wouldnt be undeciphered till now

the first evidence of brahmi is from lanka which is probably as far from levant as china

it is funny that the intrusive nature of the alphabet amidst the syllabaries is not remarked upon but just accepted especially since the other intrusive party of the time 1500 bc are indo europeans and most likely indo aryans in the mitanni and kassite eras

the near complete further non development of the alphabet to better fit the languages indicating the borrowed nature of it

as opposed to say brahmi or chinese

no mention of the tale that the phoenicians gave greeks the alphabet or dicussion of their origin which is still unknown herodotus or someone said they were of the african coast i believe ie not native but everyone pretends this is just fake

the strained efforts to relate everything back to egyptian heiroglyphs because europeans want that heritage too

the recent harvard preprint only had evidence for steppe women settling with indus men

this was not noted in the paper itself but only on twitter

you can imagine the ridiculousness of claims that women drove out dravidians and then installed a patriarchy

i hope they do publish cause it would mark the low point of western science future historians can point to as the beginning of the fall

in any case they have no evidence of steppe languages only inferences and we have strong evidence of sanskrit in india 3000 BC well before the fake aryan invasion claims of 1500 BC

impact factor science is why the west will decline and fall

and actual science will head back east to india and maybe china if they can get their act together

relatedly there is some recent debate and discussion on gunpowder in india vs china

17.5kya lanka was part of the indian landmass according to the article due to sea level differences

rest of your nit picking i will ignore since you seem to have accepted and not disputed the main claim of lankan agri well before the fertile crescent

personally dont care about peer review status since we know the reasons westerners reject this information has nothing to do with science but self interest

but you might be interested to know it was first proposed by a european named jacobi before europeans got the desire to be aryan leading to the world war and destruction

yes the site is anathema to indian marxists

please argue on merits of the content of the article

if you think there is something false please point to the specifics

hey thats one of the things i've worked on

see my first submission a few days ago on zh android ime with devanagari

with zhuyin and alternatives chinese input is not a problem and this is going to even be less of a problem with voice input in future

in fact the input problem only tightened the link chinese have to tech via their phones

but pinyin needs to go away or chinese will lose their culture in the long term latinization is going to lead to christianization

actually even the english way is quite cumbersome

languages like sanskrit and chinese which have built in word generators and preserved root meanings are much better and able to stand independently

not surprisingly indians and chinese have been better able to resist westernization

imo chinese is a very tech friendly language and has a good shot at becoming the lingua franca of tech in the near future

currently the chinese focus on science and innovation is fake and forced but could turn real in the next generation

only westerners date vedas to 15 century BC to prop up the fantasy of europeans being aryans and support the aryan invasion theory

indians date it quite securely via astronomical observations in the texts of dhruva the pole star to 3000 BC or 5kya

dhruva was thuban or alpha draconis of draco or the indian constellation sisumara whale dolphin

there were no pole stars from about 2300 BC to 1500 AD but the knowledge of the previous one was preserved in india

the rig veda and some other vedas even predate the dhruva observation but have not been securely dated

the word for rice also comes from tamil arici and not from the chinese mi

unexpectedly even the japanese use a form of the tamil word coupled with the chinese word uruchi mai leading to theories of dravidian japanese linkages or atleast contact and trade

but the debate of whether the tamil word itself comes from sanskrit vrihi is not settled there is the possibility of agriculture spreading to north india from south india and lanka starting 17.5kya and then on to the fertile crescent as well contrary to popular beliefs

dl site link on new line

some more info: the app codebase is 8 years old but still worked great aside from a hardcoded path to the sqlite database folder

h/t to the original devs

all additional dev was done on an android phone with termux and ed and a vps for builds and took about a week

Show HN: Chinese zhuyin input with devanagari

देवनागरी 注音輸入法android keyboard to input traditional chinese with devanagari characters instead of zhuyinscreenshot https://mobile.twitter.com/raj29472/status/10201880226948218...dl debug apk from 139.59.33.58/201807201315.html https site is self signedapp doesnt do frequencies yet so input is much slower than you get with current keyboards but still good for learningbased on...
