There is now `[UIDevice identifierForVendor]`.

This is one thing I like about Safari. When you open a new tab it won't start playing the video until you select it.
Makes me wonder if Microsoft would ever consider releasing IE for Mac OS X again. That would seem to be a good way to make sure Mac Developers target IE...

I'm a little jealous of the CSS Color Plugin. Wish TextMate had something like that.

I'm somewhat glad I never had to use cassette tapes for storage.

Interesting that the tablet on the lower left is an iPad.
Re:Apple iOS6 Preview on Tuesday June 12, 2012 @12:09AM (#4098701)
Better safe than sorry? I agree with you, but maybe Transamerica Corporation's legal department would think it's too close to their ads and such (huge stretch though).

"Windows Everywhere" is a bad strategy for Microsoft. I still don't think Windows Phone 7 was a good name. Why didn't they just go with Microsoft Phone or something?

Re:On the Osborne 1 and Adam Osborne, 30 years later. on Friday April 01, 2011 @12:28PM (#2396869)
"Hi, this is Steve Jobs. I'd like to speak with Adam Osborne."

The secretary informed Steve that Mr. Osborne was not available, and would not be back in the office until tomorrow morning. She asked Steve if he would like to leave a message.

"Yes", Steve replied. He paused for a second. "Here's my message. Tell Adam he's an asshole."

There was a long delay, as the secretary tried to figure out how to respond. Steve continued, "One more thing. I hear that Adam's curious about the Macintosh. Tell him that the Macintosh is so good that he's probably going to buy a few for his children even though it put his company out of business!"

Re:Google Tightening Control of Android on Thursday March 31, 2011 @11:10AM (#2391895)
I remember when Verizon disabled Bluetooth file transfer on some of their "feature" phones, forcing users to use send a MMS or e-mail, thus inducing data charges.
Re:RIM adds Android app support to BlackBerry PlayBook on Thursday March 24, 2011 @05:59PM (#2366203)
What incentive is there to create great Playbook Native apps when you can just make 1 android app that "will work" in a "player" for Playbook?

Count me skeptical.

Re:Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and new Galaxy Tab 10.1 hands-on on Tuesday March 22, 2011 @12:54PM (#2355201)
In regards to competing with Apple, I feel like a lot of people forget the advantage that Apple's retail stores give them. The Apple retail stores give people an opportunity to use iPads preloaded with software in a nice shopping environment.

How will Samsung (and others) reach the average consumer with these new tablets? Will Best Buy just stick them in the middle of 4 other tablets with price tags?

Re:Religion may become extinct in nine nations on Tuesday March 22, 2011 @10:35AM (#2354521)
This is the best news I've read all morning.
Re:A Rule of Thumb: Pricing Should Be Simple on Monday March 21, 2011 @08:01PM (#2352252)
There are 6 prices for iPads. 16/32/64 Wifi. 16/32/64 3g.

I would say people would care about the other NY Times plans. I would personally much rather use a NY times App on my iPad (Which would mean the $20.00 plan) versus using it on my iPhone. But if I wanted to use both apps, it would cost $35.00. It's cheaper just to get the physical paper delivered to your house.

Re:Confessions of an Apple Store Employee on Friday March 18, 2011 @03:37PM (#2341646)
I was always under the understanding that working retail is a pretty unglamorous job.
Re:Bon Jovi says Steve Jobs is killing the music business on Thursday March 17, 2011 @04:59PM (#2338051)
Exactly. Kids "back in Bon Jovi's day" missed the whole experience of plugging your headphones into your iPod, sliding the volume all the way up, and having your entire record collection in your palm.
Personally, I've found Flash crashes every browser on my Mac including Firefox.
I just wonder when RIM is going to shut up and ship this thing.
Re:Wired's Review of the Motorola Xoom on Wednesday February 23, 2011 @11:11PM (#2256891)
I'm curious to see how Flash will effect batter life when the Honeycomb version is released.
Re:Apple Launches Subscriptions on the App Store on Tuesday February 15, 2011 @10:01AM (#2221399)
But will the Economist, the Financial Times, Amazon, Netflix, Hulu pass up on the large amount of iOS users out there? They could easily make up losses with new users. (Higher volume of users, Easier billing system, more user friendly, etc etc)
Re:Gruber on iOS In-App Purchases on Tuesday February 01, 2011 @09:24PM (#2168605)
I wonder what this means for services like Netflix. Will the Netflix app be required to offer an in-app purchase for Netflix service?
Re:The Instagram Community - One Million and Counting on Tuesday December 21, 2010 @11:41AM (#2028329)
It's a great app.
