Congratulations to the team. Oxide & Friends, Bryan, Adam & Team are such a valuable resource to our community. Their podcast is amazing, the problems they encounter, and their willingness to share with the rest of us is not taken for granted!
Re:Vouch on Monday February 09, 2026 @11:28AM (#46947145)
Its a personal project? Do you truly believe that individuals are required to have the foresight into how their project will get adopted or viewed by the community that it would require them to create a separate github account to host it under?

40% pullback but still up 150% over the past year..

K8s just drowns out all other options. Hashicorp Nomad is great, https://www.nomadproject.io/
Re:Federal Reserve raises rates by 0.75% on Wednesday June 15, 2022 @02:58PM (#31757683)
75 basis points == 0.75%
For what it’s worth they are reducing their pricing by $15 while they figure it out.
Roblox has 43+ million daily active users. The issue you are wildly speculating about is enormously small compared to their size and scale. I guarantee you they’ve dealt with that potential issue (if they even are using Postgres) years ago.
The landing page seems to provide absolutely zero information other than giving off the impression that something may be taking an extremely long time to load.

Edit: Seems to just be completely broken in Firefox...

Re:Show HN: TabNine, an autocompleter for all languages on Tuesday November 06, 2018 @01:37PM (#18393676)
To allow the person(s) who implemented it to get paid for their efforts and hard work?
Not only that but AWS is already in northern VA. They operate gov-cloud out of there as well. It’s already established. This is Amazon not AWA
Re:Demand for Ruby on Rails is Still Huge on Wednesday June 20, 2018 @10:57AM (#17355997)
Regardless it helped them initially scale and attract users by shipping features and focusing on proving their business. Down the road as they attracted users they kept their rails core but started adding in other systems that were met their performance needs.

Rails allows companies to grow quickly and focus on attracting users and delivering business value at the sacrifice of a re-write or complexity of managing rails and performance issues down the road.

I'm not sure why this continually comes as such a surprise on HN. It's a mature framework with tons of community involvement and 3rd party gems to help ship features out the door.

The vast amount of projects and internal tools out there don't need to be "webscale" or process millions of requests a minute.

Re:Inside Apple's Global War on Leakers on Tuesday June 20, 2017 @03:07PM (#14597508)
Maybe not for all parts of the U.S. campuses, sure. Those facilities aren't producing hundreds of thousands of new iPhones everyday. It wouldn't surprise me if there were similar security measures in place for areas where prototypes and sensitive information are handled though.

East coast US seems to be working fine.
Re:Tmux and Vim – better together on Thursday April 20, 2017 @09:46AM (#14156539)
Not once does the article mention Bugsnag or try to market their product. Who is to stop an enthusiastic engineer from sharing a workflow they find useful. The article has great content and powerful visuals to help convey their point. I'm happy to see companies not try to influence authors to plug their product in their blog posts.
Re:What city is the microbrew capital of the US? on Tuesday April 18, 2017 @02:35PM (#14141547)
Rankings aside, I thought the data was very well presented and the visual story telling aspect was nicely done. Great use of SVG animations.
Yeah I got a Cloudflare DDOS check then a 503. Non HTTPS seems to be working, http://usafacts.org/
Ignorant question, do these kinds of challenges open up risk to someone being able to test the system, find vulnerabilities and then not disclose them so that they can be exploited when the election actually comes around?
Re:Text Editor Performance Comparison on Wednesday March 22, 2017 @03:42PM (#13934111)
I would be interested in seeing vim, nvim, and emacs performance using a slew of plugins to get to the point where their functionality is close to the features that sublime/atom/vscode have out of the box.

You need to use a modern browser in order to access the requested page.

Is the latest safari on iOS not modern enough these days?
