Another DF inspired game I really enjoyed is Odd Realm. Still in Early Access, but already pretty enjoyable.

Someone already mentioned it here, but you should checkout Chicago95, a Windows 95 based theme for GTK2 and GTK3.

I have the Logitech C920 webcam the post mentions. The white balance truly is all over the place, especially if you don't have great lightning setup.

I ended up adjusting the image manually with v4l2-ctl (see for example http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/v4l2-ctl.1.h...) I also pointed my warm white light desk lamp towards the wall behind my desk and bounce a bit of light back on my face off the wall.

Or if you are on Linux, you can use https://github.com/lawl/NoiseTorch

I've been using it myself and it improved the sound quality quite a bit. Or rather, it eliminated a lot of the noise that was coming through.

Ask HN: What are some tips for a former QA now starting as a Business Analyst?

Hello HN, I am a web application QA engineer of several years, recently promoted to a business analyst role. We are a mid-size, 10+ years old company.I will be joining a team of two senior analysts next month. Do you have any tips or sources for me? Are there some pitfalls I should know about, stuff I should learn?

I would love to have something like google for my local notes! I usually go into these threads with the hopes of finding a tool like that. Something that would go over my plaintext notes (PDF support can be a nice to have too), index them, and allow me to search through them google style.
> How often do you actually receive quality bug reports at work?

Very, very often. I work as a QA engineer whose main responsibilities is to go through the bugfixing queue and add needed info where necessary. And I have to spend a lot of time every day doing this. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to assign the ticket back to the reporter to add more info, because even I don't know where to look without it.

Interestingly enough, it's always the more senior people at our company who are guilty of writing crap bug reports.

I'm so happy to see someone enjoying The Visitors. For me it was among the best sci-fi series I have ever seen.
Really anything by Robert Fulghum. Granted, this books are not mind mending but when I read them I was relatively young and their authenticity left a lasting impression on me.
I was looking for someone to mention stoic literature!

For that matter I'd like to add another author - Michel de Montaigne and his Essays. It offers a very humane look inside his thoughts about the world and makes you think about your own life and how you look at it, too.

Re:Zoom 5.0 on Wednesday April 29, 2020 @08:01AM (#23018101)
I was hoping a new major version would help me fix the problem I have with the Zoom desktop application on Xubuntu. Every time I join a meeting, the entire desktop start lagging. Sadly, this update did not help.
