I hope nobody is surprised by this. $35M is insane for a launcher.
Not really. It had an ugly bug for osx so I didn't use it that much.
I got sort of used to the chrome extension, but that uses to much screen space. I want an app that takes advantage of the notification system built into OSX.
These sort of wrappers (like op's app) get really close to native apps (in terms of ui/ux).
Good job! I see that you also made a wrapper for FB Messenger. If you could do the same for Hangouts it would be awesome. Might be a bit tricky because Hangouts doesn't really have a standalone webapp right now (you might wrap the chrome extension though).
How else would you sync conversations across multiple devices? Let's not simply forget about the benefits of a decision.
If we're analyzing the video ad, it's worth mentioning the fact that people don't usually go to a coffee place with a monitor and keyboard.
This makes sense, but unfortunately not all clients are inclined into accepting propositions like these. Some clients do the research and design internally and then they hire a "consultant" to do the development part of the project.
I consider that the term "consultant" is used to freely and most of the time clients advertise that they are looking to hire a consultant when they actually want to hire a freelance developer.
Can you give an actual example of some problem that one of your clients had and how did you consult him/her?
This sounds kind of similar to what Cover was doing (they got acquired by Twitter). Hopefully Nokia has more resources to turn this into something that actually works.
Are you guys using Kickflip.io?
There seems to be a problem with the web app. You have to wait a couple of seconds before the QR code appears.

They must be real fun at parties.
[not a lawyer] that clause usually states that any work done on company time [time paid by the company], belongs to the company. If you work on your side project from home and you are not paid by the company for that time, the project belongs to you.
How is it possible that although this post gets only negative comments it still gets to be 3th post on front page?
If everyone considers this service to be bad, then it shouldn't even get to the front page.
I don't have anything against this website, but I've seen this stuff happen before and I don't understand it.
Would be awesome to see a DIY kit for this
I don't have a problem with this extension per se, but I have a feeling that browser extensions really start to go the same route browser toolbars went.
I want my browser to be fast, I don't want a bunch of stuff in the background.
Does anyone know if a potential incoming email would be lost when Gmail is down?
I too am faced with the "custom back button" on Android. I just smile and carry on.

It would've been even better if it wasn't a massive gif. I kept hovering and clicking the page the whole time wanting to control the animations.
Thanks. I'll give that a try.
Then someone needs to build something like RES for HN.
That's not a bad idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any free time this weekend, but I'll keep this in mind.
Anyway, if I implement it myself, it would have to be a Chrome/Firefox extension and I don't know if that would be a feasible solution.

First of all, I don't if this has been discussed previously or not. If it has been discussed please direct me to that thread.I often lose track of a discussion I was interested in because I simply don't get notified about any new activity in that thread (replies to my comments, new comments on thread etc.). I feel like a notification system would be a major improvement to HN.
Interesting. 40k is not a small difference. I'm intrigued by your decision. Would you mind elaborating a little?

Hi,
I'm interested in an Android dev position and I want to know what will be a good offer. Please mention your country and experience (years).Cheers.
You really don't get it. You cannot say Samsung will copy something from Apple, when Samsung already has that.
It's OK to be a fanboy, but at least try to understand what's going on.
Also, they might have revolutionized iOS but they didn't revolutionized mobile OS in general.
The new design might bring some improvement on cooling a lot of powerful hardware stashed inside a small space while keeping the noise level to a minimum.
This is really a hard call.
On one hand Java is easier to learn than Obj-C in my opinion, on the other hand XCode provides a better workflow than Eclipse, IntelliJ or the newly released Android Studio.
Some people suggested going with a multi-platform framework. I'm against that because you will not really learn how Android or iOS apps really work.
For me, a multi-platform framework is really good when you have limited resources and want to quickly build an app for more platforms.
For learning purposes, I recommend going native.
