Fed Up with Lowball Offers? Let's Rethink Selling Second-Hand market

Hi HNI’m exploring a concept for an app to simplify selling second-hand goods. It’s inspired by common frustrations many sellers face, like:- Lowball offers that devalue their items. - The hassle of managing listings across multiple platforms. - Lack of trust in payments and logistics. The goal is to make the process more streamlined and hands-off, giving sellers more control over pricing while...

Re:Klarna users are being signed in to random accounts on Thursday May 27, 2021 @07:14PM (#27309767)
This reminds me of this BBC article I came across: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55829879

> To use Klarna's pay later service, which defers payments for up to 30 days, shoppers only have to provide a name, email, date of birth, mobile number and billing address.

It’s mind blowing that’s all the information you need to process a payment via Klarna.

Better yet if you have Apple wallet set up on your phone, and visit: https://stripe.com/elements/examples, you'll see that you have the option to to pay via Apple Pay. Which is powered by their Payment request element: https://stripe.com/docs/elements/payment-request-button
Re:Ask HN: How to do translations before release? on Sunday July 16, 2017 @05:26PM (#14784187)
I'd highly recommend using Transifex. https://www.transifex.com. They have many integrations and their API is pretty solid. You can easily hook Transifex into your build pipeline. As an example at my place of work we've got it set up so that on master merges when the test are running on CircleCI all source (English) strings are pushed to Transifex.

Once all necessary strings are pushed to Transifex, you place your order.

In addition all of the above Transifex also has "Transifex Live". Which allows you to detect/translate strings live. Though this involves including their Transifex script tag in the head of your page.

What is your shopping experience like as an expat?

I am conducting a survey on how expats shop for items from their home countries. I've put together a short google survey of 3 questions: https://goo.gl/forms/l8VaspC1XdJzy11V2. I'd appreciate it a lot if I can get your feedback. If you have any additional pain points about ordering items from your home country please detail below.

Re:London vs San Francisco – back and forth on Tuesday March 01, 2016 @12:24PM (#11204305)
Have to say this was a good write up. Having lived in London for 25 years of my life I am now living in Toronto on a holiday working visa for a development company. Never visited SF but the things I've heard about SF seems quite true. This is an Apples and Oranges topic, but being a former Londoner I have to say you will never be short of a job in the tech scene. To some degree I feel in the climate we live in Finance and Technology is what is running the heart of London right now.
Re:Driverless car review launched by UK government on Wednesday February 11, 2015 @07:51AM (#9032523)
This sounds promising, however it could potentially be a disaster waiting to happen. Just recently HN posted this article about BMW flaw: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31093065. With this in mind, it wouldn't surprise me if someone somewhere gains access to the driverless cars. Not only to add that it can be connected to your smartphone, which is great. But then I suppose the smartphone app keeps track of where you've been. I have mixed feelings.

I fully understand how you feel at the moment. It's not the case you're a bad programmer. As someone mentioned it could be down to a number of factors. You could be just burnt out and need a break. Alternatively you can always decide to work on something outside of work that can help sharpen your skills. Currently at my place I got moved from doing bug fixes/client work to doing testing. I feel as though my development skills are no longer being put to use and I want to say something but do not know how to. But the best thing I do and recommend you do is try not to let it get you down and keep actively learning.
