No, most are descended from Taiwanese who were there before the mainlanders arrived.
Re:Requirements for Japanese Text Layout on Sunday February 25, 2024 @10:29PM (#39507367)
Good luck finding a 'plain and simple' implementation that is as feature complete as either of those. International text layout is complex.
It appears to me that it is you who is misunderstanding the comment you quoted. Here is the context:

>> Dr. Hinton, often called “the Godfather of A.I.,” did not sign either of those letters and said he did not want to publicly criticize Google or other companies until he had quit his job.

> As Hinton says in his tweet, this clearly implies that he left to be free to criticize Google.

The comment is saying that Hinton, in his tweet, is saying that the article's statement "he did not want to publicly criticize Google... until" is misleading, and he did not leave in order to criticize Google. This is in fact what he said, and this is what cbolton is saying that he said.

And the point of this reference to MS and Explorer is...? I don't see how it relates to Google and search at all.
"...as caused it."
Re:A Confession of Liberal Intolerance on Tuesday November 15, 2016 @12:12AM (#12955767)
"it is now no longer palatable to question whether it is happening"

So, back this up. Who are the people with the careful theories, the detailed data, the ironclad arguments, who aren't being heard because of intolerance for their 'conservative' views?

Re:Introducing OpenType Variable Fonts on Wednesday September 14, 2016 @02:29PM (#12499893)
Joint proposal developed by Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Adobe with contributions from font tool makers.
I've never heard of this happening.
