We can insert any other source of knowledge from the developers (Site, twitter, blog, etc). I will add Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie on C list, but please feel free to make a PR.

Ask HN: How can I change from consultancy world to web development world?

I'm 33 years old, brazilian and since 2000 I have been working on corporate world. From 2000 to 2006 I was working in Telecommunication industry as field technician and later as QA Analyst on Product development. Then, in 2006 I move to IT world, where I started to work implementing Siebel CRM in almost all Telecom companies in Latin America. But, I spend the last 3 years learning webdevelopment...

thank you for the explanation Brad, actually it´s very useful to also edit contacts directly on fullcontact, very nice feature.

I use https://vibeapp.co that is really good and have client for iOS and android. Is there any comparison chart of vibe vs fullcontact features?
Hi! I was planning to create one Blogging Platform using AngularJS and Firebase as backed. Then I was thinking that using Angular $resource, maybe we can isolate the backend and create a Blogging Platform entire based on frontend (AngularJS). And let the community create adapters for backend. For example, we even can use Trello as backend using Trello API.

I use this Yeoman generator that uses a very good structure like recommended above https://github.com/cgross/generator-cg-angular
API will be really great to integrates with Desktop apps. The app is very clean and usefull, well done!
Can you share the results with us?
The problem with this is that creative people are authorial bring them to "put a pretty face" on other idea is hard work. I have this problem while trying to develop my startup idea (http://mypileof.com) I'm technical and it is hard to found the "creative" or even "business" side...

I have one notebook on Evernote called Knowledge Base, but the problem maintain it. I mean, everytime I have a problem first I go directly to Stackoverflow and almost always there the first result gime the answer, so I don't put it on notebook.

But this notebook became useful to store not common errors that I couldn't fine solution on web. Normally it is related to some new tech or very specific scenario.

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @08:29PM (#7607358)
do you are from Spott team? Great!

I think improve it with twitter integration will be great. And, maybe, let an optional "public chat" (without images and with flood control) maybe let it more 'popular'

if you want to discuss more feedback feel free to found me on me at dougcorrea.com

:)

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @03:52PM (#7605891)
You are right, but maybe if user could filter messages based on other user profile could works.

I saw this nearby chat being used for the same people that today uses things like tinder, chatroullete and so on. BUT, images should not be allowed in "public" chat and also auto-flood protection (like that old irc channels)...

Do you think it should work to avoid mess with many messages?

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @03:50PM (#7605876)
Great app! And really nice job with useful information instead of simple chat.

After remember that Twitter have already an "location flag" when you tweet from mobile, I did a search for something that use it, and found it: http://nearbytweets.com/

It seems that this is the same idea with Twitter users...that is also interesting

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @02:20PM (#7605326)
I understand your point, but I'm curious how tinder, chatroullete and other forms to chat with unknown people are so popular?
Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @02:09PM (#7605249)
Actually the idea is to turn in it!

I think today one of most "popular" whatsapp feature is group message. Now imagine "localizated" group message formed automatically!

When you go to a Rock concert it will be possible to chat with everyone there, make new friends, chat privately and so on...

Actually it will be: chatroullete + whatsapp + tinder + Facebook Nearby :)

Maybe I should put this idea on IndieGoGo...

I'll wait for some feedbacks where first...them maybe I create an campaign there :)

Re:Facebook launches Nearby Friends on Thursday April 17, 2014 @01:42PM (#7605049)
What about automatically chatting with ANYONE nearby you that is using the app and "available" for chat?

I think this will be a good idea.

Imagine you in traffic, and launch the app to chat with the driver in the car side yours... The same could works when you go to party and don't try to find somebody "available" there....

This, for Facebook, should be easy, right?
