I believe a lot of uranium comes from Australia?

Definitely risks in the supply chain there, but probably less than Russia?

I did grow up with a number of mobile games from my childhood, but it seems like the ones people earnestly enjoy are maybe Pokemon Go and then a number of centuries old card games.
Re:H.264 Is Magic on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:48PM (#50293109)
What is the purpose of lossless H.264 vs. ProRes or the like?

Is it similar to lossless audio were there's not a ton of optimization you can do?

I personally add a handful of automated systems to my contacts (appointments, time sheet reminders, bills, etc.)

Thanks for making this, I was checking it all day :)
Re:Apple Music 404 Not Found on Friday October 23, 2026 @04:57PM (#50215236)
My lukewarm take is that it's conspicuous consumption.

Music is cheaper than it's ever been for the consumer and segregation between genres or bands is non-existent on music streaming.

It's hard to socially signal when everyone can afford to stream and the search bar can show you Sabrina Carpenter just as easily as RYM or /mu/core.

However , you can socially signal if you spend money on an iPod, DAP, better headphones, physical media etc.

rip loongson you will be missed.
I say we go for one Planck time of validity.
I'll fully admit I do.

The point of Plex is sharing your library with less ... technical users.

If I didn't want to do that, I'd not even use Jellyfin- SMB share and mpv would be fine with me.

You're paying for compute?

You're not kidding, I feel like this is better than most of those awesome-X lists that were popular for a while.

There is a weird chain of wondering what is going to answer my response with Siri AI considering it could be Old Siri, New Siri (local), New Siri (PCC), or ChatGPT...
Re:New Apple TV 4K on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @11:12AM (#50072993)
$429 CAD is crazy for sure but there's a running joke in my group chats of me sending a link to an Apple TV every time someone posts about their Kodi box breaking. It's not set and forget like an Apple TV at all...
Re:A Modern Web App in C on Monday October 12, 2026 @02:32PM (#50060756)
CGO=0 came in clutch at previous job when we were deploying Go apps compiled on builders that had a newer glibc than the actual prod server.

IME it was because you already have ssh setup.
Re:IRCv3 on Monday October 12, 2026 @12:45PM (#50059064)
it took me too long to realize ActivityPub is basically email.

I guess we only have three protocols, email, irc and BitTorrent.

Re:I guess I'm using WebP now? on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:32AM (#50057911)
Less about range (though mine is ~30% hit) and more about a 120V socket not being able to heat the battery to charge effectively in sub-zero temps.
Re:I guess I'm using WebP now? on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:36AM (#50057047)
IME pro-EV people will say "L1 is all you need" but then motte-and-bailey and insist having an L2 is essential for cold winters...
Re:I guess I'm using WebP now? on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:35AM (#50057036)
After owning an EV for a year I have only truly needed to charge at a fast charger on two trips.

Both times I absolutely did notice the slow "refueling" times, but for 95% of my driving "around town" it is _so_ nice.

I’m surprised how popular Discord is for as “IT guy” and information dense the UI is tbh.
A co-worker of mine lives nearby and he finds it ironic they do not have recreational cannabis.
I posted the same below, they’ve had similar bugs for the ~decade I’ve used them.
Nobody has mentioned this but the tweet in question is a screenshot of a UniFi dashboard which is notorious for miscalculating bandwidth usage.
LG UltraFine was pretty close.
Perhaps outdated but when I was hunting a Loongson laptop (just recently deprecated by OpenBSD) I got the vibe most Chinese nationals wanted x86 and pirated Windows to use software like anyone else.

I love curating my photo library but after I kick the bucket I have to assume the number of photos that my future relatives care about will number in the dozens.
I swear every Pixel model people write "well it's a good smartphone minus the 'kills itself for no reason' bug".
What user space APIs have they been routinely breaking?

A graph about social changes that cuts off at 2022 is beyond worthless.
