These guys sound pretty butthurt
Xtranormal. Really? Can't take this seriously, I laugh so hard at TTS
Can't stand the teen drama that is harry potter. It's no different than twilight, in my opinion.
Ugh. NASL isn't live. Not fun.
SC2 is awesome to watch, but not if it isn't live.
>And the next time you say something crude to a woman at a happy hour, remember that one day, someone could wise up and hire that woman in a senior management position. She won’t be a piece of meat then–she’ll be your boss.
With respect to this quote:
1. Crudeness is, at times, appreciated and welcome, depending on context and consent.
2. This is a horrible reason to treat women with respect. This is literally the same argument religious people use to demand believers to not sin (i.e. "If you sin, you might go to hell").
3. A good reason to treat women with dignity and respect is that they're conscious animals, just like you, the reader of this comment.
This is an advertisement, flagged for improper use of HN. He makes money off each book sold.
They're also bad books. You shouldn't be reading books to learn how to be a good software engineer, anyway.
Although I appreciate that this information is getting out to people, does this really belong on HN?
So #1 is basically "be delusional". Got it.
How many palestinians have iPhones? I sincerely doubt this was helping many people resist israeli occupation
Why not just sentence everyone to death for any crime, no matter how small?
How does a Game of Thrones "mishandle morality"? In my opinion, the shows (and books) present human morality more realistically than any other fiction I've ever seen
This is actually an awful self-assessment Quiz. (and I TA'd for 3 years at one of the best CS universities in the US)
Sorry, this is made of so much fail.
Well your journalism school by definition is ageist.
Somehow, this made me think of the Baby Translator from the Simpsons
It's not so much pro-nuclear as it is pro-"scientific progress".
What's so bad about being a cog in a wheel, if you're enjoying your life?
I disagree. People who code in the world of technology companies get respect, and quite a lot of it. Getting paid for your work is a form of respect.
When you get to the point where you understand that all programming languages are just implementations of turing machines (some more limited than others), and have much experience with a few languages, I'd say yes, you can give quite good advice regardless of the language, even if you've never once used it.
So why isn't anyone upset that writerspace.com is storing passwords in plaintext?
Honestly, the more you rage about this in comments here, the more they love it. Stop caring, it's the only thing you can individually do to reduce their power. Unless you're working for the cyber police.
If they leave trash on the floor, they'll be charged $50. So they don't leave trash on the floor.
This sounds pretty rational to me.
If you'd like to see actual examples of people being fundamentally irrational, go watch one of Dan Ariely's presentations on the poor choices humans make over at TED.
Same. Makes me feel like the services offered are dubious in value.
This sounds like a horrible idea; you can't backup the planet and revert if shit hits the fan (and it does, it always finds a way).
Fake quotes like this strip any sort of credibility away from wired.
That's good news on all fronts, except I'd like to point out that anonymous users will not always be less likely to pay for things.
The economic catastrophe hit disproportionately hard the age demographics of 4chan, and this in turn has manifested an entire generation of people unwilling (unable) to spend money on anything but necessities.
As the economy recovers, these people will eventually get decent jobs (I am an example of this) and will have money to spend. In the last month, (now that I have blow money) I've bought multiple items from J-List mainly due to their continued support of 4chan over the years. Thanks for supporting one of the last truly great communities on the internet, J-List.
