You are totally right! You do need your aorta and I was wrong to remove it.

Jesus Oeercomplicating Christ. I have a similar device that I built (ESP32 + eInk display) and the server is a single python script on my home media center which uses headless chrome to render an html page that shows my calendar and some other info to an image and send said image back to the requestor to display onscreen.

Please demonstrate that crash on “less -n” or vim with no plugins. I just happily opened a multi gb file in both. No issue
> Editors don’t even open those files.

vi opens multi-GB files just fine.

And for multi-TB files, "less -n" works.

You need to broaden your horizons about editors. Not all of then are javascript-based slopfests

Depressing and worrisome. But at least there is a small funny bit to it. When the president was a Democrat, Facebook did this to Republicans. When the president’s a Republican, they do it to Democrats. Evidently, they don’t even have a side. They just flip-flop to support whoever is in charge

This will not help enough to prevent France from being crushed by their debt. This is the beginning of the end for the eurozone. Bookmark this post for later reference.

Scroll to bottom. "Posted in" section, click "XR and AR". 404 error. So unprofessional.

Or PIC code... PalmOS 5 & 6 allowed multiple programs in same memory and they were simply compiled pic. MMU was not used

Some architectures (ARM, RISCV, aarch64) are well suited for this kind of code. Others are extremely poorly suited (x86, MIPS), but all CAN do it

It was the logical conclusion of your claim that multicore score matters more. Lots of tasks are serial not parallel, that is why single core score matters.
I've ordered hundreds of things from JLC over the last decade. Both bare boards and assembled boards based on my own designs that I uploaded, BOMs i provided, and sometimes even special parts I had shipped to them. All ordered boards arrived to me just fine over their cheap shipping (name varied often, last i recall was "direct standard line") and over DHL, and precisely zero times was I asked for my SSN.

multi core scores? So you'll happily accept a 100,000-core pentium one class CPU to replace your laptop? it will have higher multicore score. No? Really? Oh? why not?

in my original post, i said "perf", i am not sure what you imagined, but i am not moving anything, geekbench single core score is a perfectly reasonable thing to measure under the name "perf"
Re:Apple introduces the new 14‑inch MacBook Pro with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @06:14PM (#50266607)
I did. I am seeing single core geekbench scores of 2700 compared to my MacBook Air at 3500. This, for a laptop that is thicker and heavier than my air.

If you look at the platform name and the kernel code you'l realize that this is not even remotely true. The base M chips are T8xxx which are (more or less) just iPad chips. The pro/max/ultra are T6xxx and are their own new thing, starting with M1 pro which was T6000

Neither of those have comparable perf
Re:The new iPad mini on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:46PM (#50254498)
Back in the mid 2000s, Palm sold Treo smartphones with the camera removed, for high-security places that forbade cameras. Why do I tell this story? It means there is (was) a market for it. I would LOVE and iPad mini with the camera (and its bump) removed. A nice thin slab.

What is the scam? I do not like EVs and do not own a Tesla car, but Tesla does make them, they do work, and people do like them. Theranos, by comparison, never delivered (nor could deliver) what they promised. So I am not sure I get your comparison.

Nobody said they have to provide you an SDK for free. This was not always the case in the past, and such times can come again.
Impatiently waiting for mobileconfig settings to disable all alt appstores. same reason.
SMP, sleep-wake now works ~90% of the time compared to then's 10%, network drivers are more likely to support a random network card. Linux has improved a lot (a simpler task, as is started out being quite ... amateurish)

Jesus F Christ! No wonder most software lately (~decade) has been shit. Have y'all not heard of code review? Or did you think it just for show...you sit on a change for a week and then press "Accept" without reading it?

Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @02:22PM (#50122286)
I do not get this kind of complaint. Every thing you consider an important part of your life today (including cars and smartphones) started out as toys for rich kids. Complaining about it is asking to go back to the stone age, because all the advancements since were brought to you by someone's desire to make money and someone else being rich enough to afford it, till economies of scale made the poor old you able to afford it too.
