I can't wait to play! I wonder how it will feel for launching off points for Tweetstorms.
Re:Show HN: Self-Quarantine Book Club on Tuesday March 24, 2020 @06:43PM (#22679871)
I did look at Discord pretty hard and even set it all up for this community. But in the end I decided that enough of my existing network, friends, etc. have Slack on their devices to keep it simple to begin. Also, there's just enough of a download/learning gap that I didn't want to risk. It appears that if we want we could transition to Discord later, but I don't have any experience doing that. Have you seen people get stuck on the wrong tool and be unable to transition?

Self-Quarantine Book Club is a community on Slack where book lovers around the world come together to discuss what they’re reading.

Each book has its own Slack channel, so it’s easy to find other readers, share thoughts and questions, or just sit back and follow the conversation.

As of today we're opening it up for more people to join.

Re:How Big Is Amazon? Its Many Businesses in One Chart on Tuesday November 13, 2018 @03:07PM (#18444408)
Are these categories broken out by revenue/profit anywhere? Do quarterly earnings breakouts map to these buckets?

Well, there are plenty of ways to build something interesting in the world. This is just one opinion... many ways to get it done... and sounds like you found one! Congrats!
Re:Tweet a GIF simply with @blippybot on Monday March 16, 2015 @01:30PM (#9212870)
We made BlippyBot as hack project to make our Tweets more fun. It's really simple to use. Mention the bot (@blippybot) and a query term (excited) in your tweet. BlippyBot posts a relevant GIF. Hilarity ensues! :)

You can try it out without even connecting your Twitter account, but it works best when you're connected so that the GIF flows naturally from you in the conversation.

Re:Blippy Reborn - GIF's on your iPhone on Thursday November 14, 2013 @05:32PM (#6736162)
yup, we had to tradeoff controls, buffering, audio, and filesize for ubiquity of consumption and simplicity of user experience (i.e. inline/autoplay). Have you tried gifs in an iMessage? They're really fun to add to your texting!
Re:Blippy Reborn - GIF's on your iPhone on Thursday November 14, 2013 @03:21PM (#6735253)
hahaha... well, they're both silly ideas? :)

what are the main problems with animated GIFs in your mind? for us being playable in just about every context on the web/mobile was really important

We're really excited to bring GIFs to the iPhone!
Re:I built this over a weekend. Curious if you like it? on Wednesday October 02, 2013 @01:49PM (#6484027)
well, the current short length is nice for a reaction, but I sometimes capture a little bit more on Vine. Maybe this is simpler/better how it currently works. Just wondering.

Are you going to make it easy to make longer ones, too? This kind of feels like Vine, but it's cool that you can use them in private with texting, too!

This is actually super fun! Well done!
I believe I saw a YC company at a recent demo day that does stuff like this. Check out: http://venuetastic.com/
