that's exactly my setup as well! strange
I've been using Firefox for years and don't think I've ever seen this. Are you running some custom configuration?

Wow the ending credits music was actually pretty awesome
Re:Vectorized and performance-portable Quicksort (2022) on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @03:20PM (#49731632)
Definitely needs (2022) in the title, I was a bit confused!
Re:Harness Engineering for Self-Improvement on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @06:31AM (#49166643)
Agree with the sibling comment that an example would be useful. I'm also curious what kinds of tasks you have in mind. Theoretically almost every knowledge work task boils down to the file editing that agent harnesses already are built around (which probably explains the second half of your comment).
Re:Claude Code May–July 2026 weekly limits promotion on Sunday July 12, 2026 @02:13PM (#48883157)
only through July 19
I did some math research in high school where the proof boiled down to dozens of cases of ugly polynomial inequalities. I can't find the PDF now, but the final paper was something like 70 pages, and several of those were full-page polynomial expressions expanded out. The actual prose was probably 5 pages or so.

It was categorically the least elegant proof of anything I've ever seen.

I'm incredibly grateful to for the opportunity to have done the research and gotten my feet wet early on, but boy do I cringe when I look back at that paper.

Re:Has_not_been_viewed_much on Sunday July 05, 2026 @11:04PM (#48800220)
This is awesome. It's interesting to me how it messes with my incentives. At first I was just pulling the lever on the slot machine, then I went back and clicked on the pieces I really liked (to mark them as "viewed" for the Art Institute and show some love), but finally realized that I was systematically working to remove my favorites from the pool of images people would see.

In the end I just clicked on the "refresh" button a few more times.

Not justifying it by any means, but the first one could have been done on a risk assessment of how it would affect recruitment, retention, and morale. There are some worlds in which that could have been the rational choice, especially with knowledge that it would likely get rolled back in time.

Why try to circumvent W^X page protection? Some sort of self-modifying program without extra pointer indirections?
Re:Ask HN: Are you still using a Vision Pro? on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @03:12PM (#48466115)
It's quite fun and I'll drop into it from time to time, but it's mostly a novel plaything for me. I do have a friend who has used it for full-time work for years though.
Re:The User Is Visibly Frustrated on Tuesday May 26, 2026 @07:58PM (#48287630)
I 100% agree with you, which is why I try to be polite to the LLMs. Also, on a practical note, I've never seen an agent session go right-side-up after I crash out; the model seems to perform worse than if I just gently guide it.

This is absolutely incredible!
Re:Running local LLMs offline on a ten-hour flight on Monday April 27, 2026 @10:45PM (#47929960)
I’ve long suspected as such. Is there a way to power limit what my macbook pulls from the outlet?
See superscript 6 on the article. Apparently NAC might has side effects of its own.
Re:1D Chess on Friday April 10, 2026 @04:35PM (#47723363)
Same here, oddly enough, and every time besides this one was without anyone else mentioning it.
Re:I Ported Mac OS X to the Nintendo Wii on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @04:07PM (#47695619)
I'm shocked that the Wii only has 88mb of RAM. The programmers of that era really knew how to make a lot from a little!
Re:Tailscale's new macOS home on Thursday April 02, 2026 @03:11PM (#47618852)
Yes it is
yeah, how can I view the settings on my own personal account if my employer is managing the copilot settings?
Re:OpenAI set to discontinue Sora video platform on Tuesday March 24, 2026 @10:22PM (#47512403)
I just use elevenreader for this. I copy in essays or whatever text I want to listen to and it works decently well. It's far from perfect, but certainly good enough.

Sometimes I'll take deep research output and listen to it too that way.

Talk about a misleading title XD
Re:Waymo 13x safer than human drivers on Thursday March 19, 2026 @05:28PM (#47446449)
That would make sense a while ago, but definitely not in SF for locals who have lived here a while. For me as a pedestrian/bicyclist/motorcyclist I actually feel safer around them than any other car.
Re:Waymo 13x safer than human drivers on Thursday March 19, 2026 @05:26PM (#47446422)
How are you saying that so confidently? Waymos respond to traffic cops directing traffic manually

Please say more!

Re:uBlock filter list to hide all YouTube Shorts on Sunday February 15, 2026 @10:33AM (#47024478)
This is perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Re:uBlock filter list to hide all YouTube Shorts on Saturday February 14, 2026 @04:22PM (#47018512)
That's an awesome idea — sometimes I really do want to watch a short but not in that interface. Do you know how to set this up in general?
It's interesting that the video game style of the images is still preserved. I actually expected the outputs to look like real photographs for some reason.
I was seeing this several weeks ago but seems fixed recently, at least for my types of queries. I only use Pro

I played it on Firefox on MacOS! Are you on an old version?
