I posted a similar thought to Linkedin awhile back. It would be great if we flipped the model to something that protects the user, first: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/20140609151247-16668613-apps-...

I agree. I always say 'work to live, don't live to work', which is my way of saying the same thing.
I liked this as well: 'I had been dreaming all my life, but I felt like I was finally free to dream'. This is where I am at in life right now, and it is beautiful.

How sure are you that Dropbox is more reliable than Google Drive? As sure as you are that Google Drive is just a drop in the bucket for Google?

Re:At Google Conference, Cameras Even in the Bathroom

it is proper to remove them or place them atop your head like you do with sunglasses indoors. also, i doubt people were doing anything but staring down or straight ahead in the urinals. it would be weird for someone without glass to be doing what he describes in a bathroom. just saying..

can you characterize what makes their support "the absolute worst support of any business application/suite I've ever used" with examples?
that is not the general consensus of google apps customers, so i am curious what experiences have caused you to have this opinion.

Re:Google Glass hands-on: Not a good device for consumers
on Thursday May 09, 2013 @02:01PM (#5681940)
it's way easier to just look up and talk than to pull a device out of your pocket, unlock it, pull down notifications/open an app, then interact with the device. it will save you minutes everyday with that process alone.

your mobile phone has the exact same capabilities as glass. it just isn't mounted on your face.

the camera is a killer feature for glass. it wouldn't make sense without it. and having used it myself and taken photos, i can tell you i prefer the experience "hands down" over a mobile device or point-and-shoot for activities such as hiking, running, and biking.

Re:Introducing Vdio

Vdio is web-based. iTunes is app-based.
Re:Introducing Vdio

they seem to be competing with itunes and not netflix.
Re:Introducing Vdio
on Wednesday April 03, 2013 @01:28PM (#5487518)
The reason I like this is because it is browser-based (vs itunes must be used as an app). At the very least, if you are a Rdio subsciber, you get $25 free credit for Vdio.
Re:Ask HN: Did you have Lasik eye surgery?
on Monday April 01, 2013 @12:13PM (#5473949)
14 years since my surgery. i still see great! my pupils dilate 1mm further than the surgery corrects, resulting in a star-burst effect with any light at night. a minor nuance for near perfect vision. i'd do it again without hesitation.

Re:Chief Architect of Google+ requests clarification on Google Reader
on Friday March 15, 2013 @01:10PM (#5381625)
i also think this line of thinking is silly. the Googler is assuming a set of features is what made Google Reader the best RSS reader on the market. while that is true in essence (features do add up to the overall product) i don't think any 1 feature in reader was killer. rather, the collection of all the features made the app itself killer.
