yeah i loved tech so started learning circuity and soldering. but it was a waste of time i made my living learning how to program web applications.
i know him as from the tv show but only watched a few episodes. he has done many movies and journalism now. not everyone has to be an OC superfan.
yea have seen many books just recycled because of lack of space. scanning would at least preserve them before their ultimate fate
it was locked down harder than the rest of the country, yes it’s a fact. he wasn’t looking for sympathy idk why you needed to overreact over and invalidate his personal experience
it’s cool but really no need to put someone down for trying things. also welly is not the sole place for gigs.
Re:LLMs reward expertise on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @03:30AM (#49165409)
same thing as people just entering a question prompt and copying and pasting the response as gospel. e.g. politicians using it to write speeches, or lawyers for testimonials.

the output is programmed to look correct so unless you have some sort of background you won't actually know what errors to look for.

cathy’s ARK was also a hot genius moment in a bull market, now it’s another average option
hindsight is easy. imagine apple and amazon stock holders thinking the same and selling when stock went up 100% after ipo
nothing wrong, but did we really need ticket prices to go from 100 to 1000 if they weren't struggling financially?
and part of the proposal is to get Fifa to borrow and take on debt lol it's peak capitalism
it's kinda hillarious how peace deals are now just temporary measures just to allow usa to reload their arsenals
Re:Why haven't organoids solved all of drug discovery? on Tuesday July 28, 2026 @06:48PM (#49091025)
prob because biology cannot simply be refactored down into parts like code, and their sum is greater than it's parts.
Re:LARP – Revenue infrastructure for serious founders on Monday July 13, 2026 @02:29PM (#48896763)
well the point is value is not being created. the stock market is at an ATH, by all metrics productibity has increased, but ask anyone on the ground- the mood is not as optimisitic as the financial instruments say
Re:LARP – Revenue infrastructure for serious founders on Monday July 13, 2026 @02:27PM (#48896719)

Re:Who manages the agents? on Saturday July 11, 2026 @07:20PM (#48876774)
i think the doomsday scenario is more likely from someone giving AI access to crucial systems and it accidentally making critical mistakes, rather than it outsmarting the system
anyone can isolate one number to fit their bias. if you look at the wider financing in the industry and the context of multiple AI deals in the billions without any cold hard cash flow or reasoning it kinda makes sense
are people really balking at paying 50k on 1 million of sales? that is a problem i would like to have.

steam did provide the basic dev/hosting/sale/marketing platform.

Re:Silent speech with ultrasound on Saturday July 11, 2026 @02:29PM (#48874419)
there is a perception that ultrasound is not as dangerous as xrays (radiation etc). As we find more use-cases for it we need to be aware that the damage caused by blasting organs with energy waves is not negligible.
Re:Small Penis Rule on Sunday July 05, 2026 @08:34PM (#48799432)
idk if that would work in real life. there are cases where one sibling gets less than another and judges still rule things have to be split equitably and children should be provided for.
blogging was like a diary, mostly authentic with people just primarily focused on sharing. some with banner ads on the site to get pocket change.

then with substack, social media monetisation, etc everything became income focus. writers got taken over by influencers and content became focused on grabbing attention. didn' take long for readers to leave after that.

Re:Costco Is the Anti-Amazon on Saturday July 04, 2026 @03:16AM (#48783311)
costco buyers typically buy in bulk and fill a pantry in one go. i doubt one truck can fill 100 pantry. maybe a few products each
Re:One Million Passports Leaked Online on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @02:56AM (#48743160)
that shoebox would prob be thrown or burnt at some point tho, rather than being accessed by savvy hackers from across the globe.
Re:Rocketlab acquires Iridium on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @02:43AM (#48743086)
it needed to be American to get all their defense contracts.

the kiwi connection was just PR, and to access local launch sites.

Re:Why Jet Engines Aren't "Made in China" on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @02:38AM (#48743064)

Re:Claude Code Is Steganographically Marking Requests on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @02:28AM (#48742998)
i think you're being played by their whole ethical high horse PR angle
Re:Surprise, Pay $1000 on Thursday June 11, 2026 @07:13PM (#48497716)

Re:Surprise, Pay $1000 on Thursday June 11, 2026 @07:07PM (#48497656)
it's also not easy to just apply for a chargeback in some jurisdiction. they are betting you will just give up and chalk it up as an expensive lesson.
kinda depressing the race general intelligence is motivated by the potential to profit from ad sales.
