is there a way for Voyager 1 to be still accelerating? like, maybe it is unwanted, but could it, theoretically?
Re:The foolishness of "natural language programming" (1978) on Friday October 23, 2026 @06:10AM (#50206686)
"trust" and "responsibility" mean nothing for a fully digital entity who isn't required to feed its family, looking for an eventual new job, and being under pressure for not being fired

i am in Paris, and I don't see much variety. Obviously there is so much more choice in big hypermarkets, but I don't go there daily, unlike my local, 30sqm store next my apartment

Re:Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain on Monday September 28, 2026 @02:59PM (#49882796)
I don't use my car daily (thanks subway), only for rare monthly trips, 400km one way. How does hybrid helps here? it just adds weight for no reason
"using facebook", unironically presented as evidence of "technologically literate" is so funny
Need 7 more paragraphes telling us that the stones, weren't in fact, chosen from the nearest location, but were chosen from a distant location.

Without ever telling *how" they were moved of course, that would give out too much

can it be done? C codebase are obviously missing the lifetime information, type-generic arguments are just void*, in/out arguments aren't explicit... or at least, the information is scattered across the codebase, and might be inconsistent. a "safe rust" might not be even possible
nope, still not buying it. i understand we must live in different jurisdictions, and hère (France) it is explicitly stated that Employer must provide all tools necessary to the work. moreover, the Employee has the explicit right to refuse any request to use his own tools for the job. And finally, any costs for the employee must be reimbursed by the Employer.
for one, because that's like requiring a particular brand of a tool to be used. That's even ignoring the "required" because usually I can't require that my hide uses a tool unless I, as employer, provide it to him/her
Re:NetBSD 11.0 on Sunday August 02, 2026 @02:58AM (#49141842)
i really want to use one on my Linode, wondering if is it possible
Re:The Human-in-the-Loop Is Tired on Friday July 17, 2026 @08:17AM (#48946457)
The whole premise of Anthropic and openai is to replace developers. I don't understand what mental gymnastics people are going thru to justify their 5 open claude sessions and tokenmaxxing

Like, they want to professionnaly, kill you. Theh are as much as a tool as is a cord pending from the ceiling

Re:Rewriting Bun in Rust on Thursday July 09, 2026 @02:08AM (#48841597)
You and the parent are arguing over different, orthogonal things. I believe the parent argues over "efficiency"(=being able to achieve a goal for given amount of ressources) while you are replying over "efficacy" (=being able to achieve a goal). Both could be called 'maintainability' and nobody explicitely tells what definition they use, so all the long pointless discussions could be avoided if people agreed on terms
Just finance the project for god sake, why introducing another "gift card" that they sell at cashiers? Let the maintainer spend the money, maybe he/she needs bread, not tokens
But somehow "force all adults to sort their thrash" instead of "let's standardize the packaging and materials" is fine? Oh I see

Not addressing to you specifically, just figure of speech

At least he has a reputational/commercial risk. LLM has none
Lol thats brave on your part, given that a mistake can cost thousands and you have no accountability (punch!) from an LLM
I ve had exactly same idea for many years now, but apparently that's not as obvisous to others

Developing new software? Universities! Maintaining/migrating old software? Universities! IT counseling and advise? You won't believe it ... Unive okey i stop here you got the point

So they are buying another 32GB RAM stick, interesting
Re:Can You Stop a Hypersonic Missile? on Monday June 01, 2026 @01:59PM (#48360366)
What could I read in order to understand different tradeoffs between types of missiles and the interceptors? It's just curiosity, i dont need hard math, but let's say i d like to implement a somewhat realistic system for real time strategy game
Re:'Backrooms' Stuns with $81M Debut on Sunday May 31, 2026 @06:33PM (#48350387)
I practically never watch any movies because they are almost always trash, but decided to go watch Obsession after seeing a youtuber (penguinZ) talking positively about it

Yeah it's pretty good. I am in my late 30. Excited for Backrooms which isnt yet available

Re:Zig: Build System Reworked on Sunday May 31, 2026 @02:51AM (#48343595)
I wanted to try zig, but the language still moves way, way too fast, they break API for every release, so i simply couldbt keep up, while learning the language/debugging the build system/trying to actually implement what i wanted

After watching the Jetbrains interview, I still want to try again but maybe i ll wait till the 1.0 is out

"Surely the last time after handing out carrots long enough to kill all competition, they switched from carrots to sticks, that sucks; but look? now they started giving out carrots again!! It will be such a sad day when no more carrots"
The website crashed my firefox (149.0.2 android) 3 times in a row. How to reproduce: open the website, start scrolling
Well i am in France, and what I said is factually true for some banks; at least mine (LCL)
I doubt so, because i need to type god-knows-how-many characters by hand, while visually separating them into chunks by 4, then explicitly authorize the receiver. Oh, and explicitly authorise the country
TIL gnome-lib has a meaning outside of programming
Industry really went from "prove you are not a robot", to "but also if you are, this way please"
