What other forums do you visit often? This doesn't have to be programming related.
So I'm new to deploying apps to production, I'm curious of everything I need to do to make a website secure. As of now, I only know to setup SSL, I imagine there is more beyond that.
This has been an issue and I would like to know what other people/teams have done to solve this.
I can see this going both ways. But I think a project without tests would be less toxic than a project with bad tests. I'm curious what your thoughts are on this.
I made a sudoku solver, and it was a great learning experience. Now I'm looking for other exercises. Please share if you have any, thanks!
There are a lot of great things I want to learn but I find it hard getting myself to buckle down and get in the process of learning. How have you found ways to stop beating around the bush and get to learning?
I work so many hours with my current job, so I have no time to work on my personal projects. Money has been a struggle so I have been looking for a job. Employers ask to send them a link to my github account, but I don't have many public repositories and my current job has no open sourced software I can show. (I also signed an NDA)
I've had employers think I was full of it because they see a ton of different skills and not a lot of work history on my resume. But I know if I can get them to hire me they would be impressed with my abilities.
If I can work and complete tasks before even getting hired, I feel like I would be able to get hired more easily.
I thought the point of being in a JR developer position was to get a job with limited experience and continue to learn while working. I've been in a job search lately and checking out these Jr Developer positions, they require so much! Some require bachelors degrees, 3-5 years in web development, experience with quite a few languages. I can't tell if this is really what Jr Developer positions...
So I pretty much want to learn a lot of things. I want to learn Ruby, Go, Swift, Elixir, (few more things) I haven't really mastered one language, and I want to be able to do that. I've got some advice saying that it takes time and to keep learning.Should I put my focus into mastering one language or have fun with the languages I want to learn and find which one I want to master?
My girlfriend has really been enjoying designing websites. I bought her a course on Udemy that teaches her the basics of photoshop, and she's been in love with it since. What good resources should she read/watch to keep her learning/motivated to design? Also, what kind of tools should she use? (graphic tablets, pens, etc.)Thanks in advance!
