Are you indicating everyone should be able to own a weapon then? Despite being incapacitated in some way, which may lead to injury of themself or others.
Isn't the whole point of a gun to kill people though, unlike a car?
You're not thinking of Indistinguishability Obfuscation per chance?

https://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/2014/02/21/cryptogr... seems an interesting article.

Ah, I was wondering where the link was, that explains it.

Heh cheers, I just found /sys/class/leds/dell::kbd_backlight/brightness :)

Gotcha, cheers

A lot of GNU Radio is actually written in C++. Looking at some examples, it seems you don't need Python to create the flow graph either, that can be done in C++.
Re:ZeroPhone – A Raspberry Pi smartphone on Saturday January 14, 2017 @07:25PM (#13401507)
Sure I can see that, but isn't a base station implementation just as complex?
Re:ZeroPhone – A Raspberry Pi smartphone on Saturday January 14, 2017 @06:52PM (#13401378)
I'm confused, there seems to be open base station implementations such as OpenBTS, why is there no SDR based cellphone already I wonder?, as that'd be really neat in my opinion.
Hi. What makes it industrial grade out of interest? Under the hood are you using microcontrollers or..?

Could you give some more information on the controller.

Cheers

Am I right in thinking from watching the CCC talk though, that you can simply use another computer to do the debugging, as they show a debugging cable which crosses over wires.
I assume "USB Debug" option in my BIOS refers to this feature, however it did seem to be shipped "Disabled" for me.
Re:Dragons' Den winner has £100,000 funding withdrawn on Monday January 09, 2017 @07:23AM (#13355800)
I saw their product on Dragons' Den yesterday.

I found it rather surprising as I've bought similar bluetooth key fobs, from Aliexpress for around $1.40 each and they mentioned they where planning on selling them for around £20.

I just found this:

https://twitter.com/BethElderkin/status/817461392462807040

"Wiki leaks falsely ID's someone while trying to demonstrate why a mass dox list isn't a terrible waste of their time."

The lack of multiple levels of menus is something I noticed with Ghost too, when I last played with it.

Also I'm wondering, with Squarespace, it's not clear whether you can install on your own server or not

Re:The Ultimate Game Boy Talk (33c3) [video] on Saturday December 31, 2016 @01:50PM (#13292467)
I'm very interested in the Kong Feng GB Boy Colour he mentioned, I'd love to know how they copied the GameBoy CPU etc. through decapping.

There's a table of contents of the book at: https://www.nostarch.com/hardwarehacker

I'm really looking forward to getting my copy :)

Re:33rd Chaos Communication Congress Livestreams on Tuesday December 27, 2016 @05:53AM (#13262455)
Yup, that's correct, the channels seem to be: #33c3-hall-1 #33c3-hall-2 #33c3-hall-6 #33c3-hall-g
Technically I don't think it is an SDR, as it's not using software to generate arbitrary modulation schemes. The chip is capable of transmitting data through certain modulations.

http://www.ti.com/corp/docs/landing/cc1111/ - is the chip they're using.

Wow, that's disgraceful, I hope they sort it out.
Re:Using a Time-Of-Flight LIDAR Sensor on Thursday December 08, 2016 @02:57PM (#13133687)
Ooh thanks a lot for the heads up!
Re:Using a Time-Of-Flight LIDAR Sensor on Thursday December 08, 2016 @12:32PM (#13132138)
I used a time of flight sensor in an attempt to measure the specific gravity of beer - https://www.anfractuosity.com/projects/zymeter-simple/

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12784 - Is the little board I used, and used a logic level converter.

I attached a little polystyrene circle to the top of the hydrometer, for the IR to bounce off.

Unfortunately the approach didn't work too well because of yeast krausen pushing the hydrometer about.

This sounds very cool, I'm curious what wavelengths of IR they can convert.
Re:Ask HN: What is your hardware/garage side-project? on Monday December 05, 2016 @04:06PM (#13109576)
That sounds really fun :) I've heard good things about the Swissflow flow meters, for monitoring beer flow to the tap, but they're _really_ expensive :(

I'm currently working on trying to crack an electronic safe lock based on the awesome DEFCON talk by Plore ( https://media.defcon.org/DEF%20CON%2024/DEF%20CON%2024%20pre... )

I don't think the photos are exactly up-to-date, but I currently have an STM32F429 DISCO dev board, configured with a ladder DAC, so I can generate the analog keypresses for the safelock via my laptop, the board also sets a pin high to force my oscilloscope to trigger and capture the voltage from my ucurrent, which is hooked up to the battery of the safe-lock.

https://www.anfractuosity.com/projects/safe/

I'm also trying to get some iron nanoparticles, if I can find them cheap enough, in order to try to optically image a floppy disk.

I've got some images from one in the link below, but that was using a magnetic developer, with much larger particles.

Re:Welcome to the World of Software Defined Radio on Sunday December 04, 2016 @07:39PM (#13102610)
Yeah that's a good point I've got a module which uses http://www.silabs.com/products/wireless/EZRadioPRO/Pages/si4...

The chip itself covers 119–1050 MHz, but the modules I have, have filters on to allow only narrower ranges.
