Re:GDPR fines were meant to rock the data privacy world on Monday November 04, 2019 @10:39PM (#21449385)
The only companies worth fining are rich as F, unless you plan to take 10% of market cap they won't care. The other companies will just go bankrupt, which might be desirable.
Re:A CS degree is better than teaching yourself how to code? on Sunday November 03, 2019 @01:21PM (#21435558)
Agreed. The main point is that a CS degree is not a proxy for success in all things that require code. I like to keep in mind that a BS in CS only demonstrates the ability to study, memorize and be quized on your memory. Using a set of axioms to build something unique is totally different.

It's not a policy problem, stop blaming the government for the stupid decisions of individuals. It's a market problem, if renters said I'm not paying 1600 per month then the rent would be lower.
When the city i live in announced they were deploying these readers i got a response from our police chief, he advised me that refusal to install them would result in their department losing some certification that allowed them to remain as independent as possible.
Stupid if your client is guilty and you trust the database, not so stupid if your client insists they are innocent and the database governance processes are suspect.
This should be a law, not a rule. How do we push this into law, so there are consequences when the databases are abused?
It seems like any competent defense attorney would insist on resampling, or alternatively insist this evidence thrown out duebto lack of chain of custody.

Signed, not a lawyer.

I don't use chrome any longer, firefox for the win.
No work, no compensation, seems reasonable.
