The numbers that are on every check I’ve ever written? I presume that info is public knowledge, and that if there’s any fraud, my bank will reverse it.

Since Sol 6.1 came out, I have come nowhere close to my daily token budget. Previously, it was basically every day.

OOC did you have this list prepared? You posted it very quickly as a response

Folks certainly have their preferences, but I think most consider each company's roughly equivalent models to be of the same quality.

Great reason to use privacy.com virtual cards wherever possible and online

Also “1 month ago,” but s/ASM/Rust

Roughly 36k people died on US roads last year. Waymo's own numbers over 271M driverless miles show about 95% fewer serious injury crashes than the human benchmark in the cities it runs in. Discount that however much you want for methodology, it's still progress.
It might not count as innovation in the last four years because the groundwork was laid decades ago, but in the last four years Waymo evolved to the point where it can drive on the highways.
We’re always losing things, eg carrier pigeons.
Whereabouts?

But not ubiquitous, we didn’t get one until the late 80’s. And OTOH we had internet in 1996, and were among the early adopters in my town.

Probably much, much easier to make a zeppelin
Re:Ghostty 1.4.0 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @06:17PM (#50266638)
I know it’s been said elsewhere ITT, but thank you for making and supporting Ghostty!
In regulated industries like money lending, ML outputs have to be explainable (and explained for an ECOA case). I’m not an ML expert by any stretch, but IIUC this is why we end up using decision tree models.
Because it’s always a house finch?
IIRC birding is like a 130bn/year industry in the US

Should be in your earthquake/tornado kit anyway
No offense but this is a bit of a weak example; Chegg got hit pretty early. No one since Chegg?
I downloaded a car once

Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:22AM (#50057755)
Sure. Specifically I work on SOX restricted code, but the rest of the company has what you’re describing.
Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:33AM (#50057026)
The PM doesn’t have a runtime environment to test the change. No access to create a PR. Zero verification was done and I was handed a .zip file

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, but not all cases are created equal. If the PM could create a PR that was clearly verified, like we expect out of all the SWEs, I wouldn’t have a problem.

Re:QGIS bans AI assisted contributions on Monday October 12, 2026 @08:40AM (#50055580)
That’s what I’ve been telling my PM: I don’t need your half-baked PR you one shotted from a prompt: put that prompt in GitHub Issues for the team to use later
Sol 6.1 is really good too though
Re:How to Build Wealth as a Career Person on Sunday October 11, 2026 @05:14PM (#50047869)
Sure but there’s a wide band between not having money and having generational wealth.
Re:How to Build Wealth as a Career Person on Sunday October 11, 2026 @04:12PM (#50047337)
I don’t think it’s a sad life if you don’t have these things

Advice I got at an early job: every time you get a raise, set up auto transfer to savings/investment for the net new and keep the same lifestyle (thank you Ramit Sethi)
