The point about privacy has been made before and I see the value in it. But, users regularly share documents with third parties. In addition this was expected to be used primarily by non-business users (such as students) and in the future enhance privacy if people see value in it.

It doesn't work as a self-hosted service, because you need to be able to quickly share a link with other participants.

It's not a honeypot.

No, it gets permanently deleted (not retained anywhere) when the user deletes it.
Thanks for the feedback!
No retention at all, not even a deleted folder: https://slidebyside.com/privacy

I wanted to see if anybody wants this too, and hopefully develop it into a business.

The actual idea came to me back in University when I was presenting projects where I worked with other students. This way students can share a presentation only they can control.
You have the option to limit if viewers can detach.
I know. Kinda hard to develop trust, but I am considering making all slides E2E encrypted or at least have the option for it.

I wanted to first know if people would like something like this.

Show HN: SlideBySide – Present slides without sharing your screen

https://slidebyside.com/

Why is it useful? - Present slides without sharing the screen and have every one be on the same page. - Present together with other cohosts and all control the current page. - Other features such as presentation collab features. Why should I not just vibe code my own solution? - Its a hassle to maintain a version online.

This misses the point completely for repeated arguments that make no sense "Its historical ...".

The reality is, you lose programmatic control when you use HTML directly. Its much easier to have Dialog component that reacts to its state, than to use the native dialog tag.

As the name suggest `std.debug.print` is a short hand for debug printing. In a CLI app for example you should use IO.

Why? How do these relate?
Good catch, wrote this on the go. The first stat is a study on Canadians, the second is from another source which is global.
The lifetime risk is approximately 1.3% for women and 1.8% for men. For regular smokers: 11.2% for women and 14.8% for men. So about 15 to 30 more likely to get lung cancer. Bringing that down to 4x is close to "almost the same".
Well sugar is the most immediate form of energy. Most high performance athletes eat a lot of sugar. Its also pretty clear we are evolved to consume it.

How does this play together with what you mentioned above?

I'm assuming you must have discovered this through the OpenRouter LLM performance graphs.
How does calculating more digits of pi help us?

What concepts do you find interesting, compared to other FP languages?

How would this make the web more dangerous? Its just static file hosting. Already wildly available!
Nonsense. Just because there was no stricly "unifed" (whatever that means) German culture does not mean that German culture does not exist. There is clearly a shared core of culture and ethnicity to all the listed peoples.

But again you can continue with trying to make it seem as if everything is equal to everything else.

I'll leave you with this little thought experiment. If we put a northen German, a Swiss German and a Spaniard in a room, how long will it take for the two germans to realize they have more in common with each other than the spaniard?

> Offering birthright citizenship makes the US better than 95% of the other countries. Not worse.

No arguments why its better, just stating it as if its fact.

Most countries do not have it because it creates many preverse incentives (such as anchor babies). This especially in countries which are targets of immigration (such as the US).

So you want to diminish the voting power of the native population through mass immigration?

Tell me how this rhetoric would not radicalize any normal citizen.

Mass deportation is terrible and destructive, but mass immigration is all good and has 0 negative consequences
It has been shown repeatedly in multiple studies (you might have heard a very prominent one from Denmark) that Non-European/Non-Western migrants are a net loss for the economy during their lifetime and also their children are a drag on the economy. Meaning the money spent by the government to support them is never made back (from the working) during their whole lifetime.

So no, most migrant groups are not a big benefit. Especially considering that this is only taking the economy into account. When you take into account the societal disruption and anti-values that they bring with them, then its clear how negative they have been for Europe.

Why would that be a problem? You just transform the values when interacting with their API.
