There are plenty of people making a living from donations to their open source contributions.

It seems odd to title them influencers based on that.

Turbolinks isn't specific to rails.

Do you have a source for this? I don't remember it ever being part of Gmail.

I imagine it updates to make it easier for a reader to grab a link directly to the section they're currently looking at.

They could use `replaceState`[1] instead of `pushState` though so as not to mess with your browser history.

The last major attempt at "improving" UI/UX that stands out to me was in 2014 when they launched the redesigned iOS app.

That was when I stopped using soundcloud on my iOS devices. Everything became more difficult for me.

I bought my aeropress and a hario pour over at the same time having never previously used either. I much prefer the coffee that comes out of the pour over for the same reason; it definitely makes a more tasteful coffee.

Does anything like the quick history select or the google-instant style auto-complete/suggestion exist for zsh?

I install ngrok[1] on my vm's to show off what I've been working on temporarily or to see how things look on iOS.

My Comcast modem died on me on a Thursday afternoon. Comcast couldn't have a tech out until the next Tuesday to give me a new modem and said if I tried to bring it to the local Comcast branch to swap it for a new one I'd be refused service.

After my frustration subsided I spent a little time researching [1], made use of my Amazon Prime subscription and had a brand new, well reviewed, compatible modem [2] at my house Saturday morning.

The modem Comcast gave me retailed for $28. I paid $7/mo for over 4 years. That's well over $300 for a $28 piece of garbage, just because I didn't know I had the option to use my own hardware. I canceled my monthly rental, had a tech come out to pick the broken modem up at no charge, and have been happy since.

Invest in a modem like you do your other hardware. It will be better for your wallet and have the added benefit of _not_ lining the pockets of a company many people despise.

My money is so far on Darkleech apache module[1] as the cause. As far as I know it's still unclear how the attacker gains root access to the server to do the install.

Re:Php.net detected as a malware host by Google Safe Browsing on Thursday October 24, 2013 @09:44AM (#6605183)
I've seen this sort of thing from the Darkleech apache module[1]. It also won't show the malicious Javascript to any IP that appears in the `last` log. It looks like php.net uses Apache too[2]. The easiest way I've seen to find the module (they come with a variety of names) is to do something like

  strings /path/to/modules/* | grep -i blacklist

I think that's what marban was suggesting.
"Usage Rights" at the bottom of this page: http://www.google.com/advanced_image_search

You get there by clicking the gear icon on the right side of the image search results page; 'Advanced search' is under that. Yay for Google making one more tool more difficult interact with.

> and it outputs a json serialized array as html

Actually, it renders a raw JSON response - a single object of 'unguarded' attributes (all by default) for the model with Content-Type: application/json set. It has nothing to do with HTML.

Your syntax is invalid too. To do what you want you'd actually call

    return Model::where('asdf', 1)->first();

I think this is nice, and I already found a deal I haven't come across yet on a vehicle I'm interested in, so thanks!

A few initial thoughts:

- I can't click the radio buttons themselves within each options group; only the link/label itself is clickable

- I would rather the mileage filters be < 10k, < 20k, < 36k, etc. If I can't have this, I want to be able to select multiple mileage filters at once

- I want to select multiples of other filters too. Year for example. eBay allows me to enter "2009-2011" or "2009-". I can only view one year at a time on this site.

- It took me a minute to realize I had to select a make before a model (yes, I feel stupid for this); showing an empty stub where the options will appear once I have selected a make is not intuitive - how about not showing the not-yet-ready filters until they are relevant?

- Seeing the "Contact Dealer" red button directly below the phone number made me initially think I was going to be calling the dealer. I finally clicked it after seeing no other place to view the dealer's own listing. I'd make getting to the dealer's site a bit more prominent

Ask HN: Having trouble finding 2 past submissions; can anyone help?

1. There was a post in the last 1-3 months for a site that offered photographs of (mostly) Apple devices out in the real world. I vaguely remember a photograph of a macbook on a picnic table. They were offering real photographs/settings for you to lay a screenshot of your website into. 2. There was a post in the past couple weeks for a tool that (as of it's posting) tracked python package and...

It goes by the local government where the kitchen is. Here in Connecticut the home kitchen needs to be inspected/licensed/approved just like any other commercial kitchen.
Re:Dropbox' Public/ folders will be phased out soon on Friday June 15, 2012 @03:59PM (#4118395)
Dropbox support offered up the ?dl=1 querystring as the solution to permanent, public URLs when I emailed them, but I have the same issue with the fact that the files are forced to download. If they're going to stick with Dropbox branded preview for public URLs, I'd like to at least see a similar ?view=1 querystring to keep images/pdfs/etc.. displaying directly in the browser.
A debit transaction processes as an EFT against your checking account. A credit transaction goes through your credit card company. You don't get the liability coverage Visa/Masetercard/Amex offer you when you pay with a debit card - its up to you and your bank to try and get your money back, not the big credit card companies' lawyers/fraud departments.
