There isnt any progress for me on mobile, its just boxes cycling and a loading... text underneath. Perhaps it has something to do with content blocking?? Im not sure.

I wont add on to the technical aspect of the discussion, but this whole article is "its easier and its faster and its less expensive for you!!", a data-harvesting tactic having been done for years. Please think, people. I get the security aspect, but this technology gives up an astronomic amount of personal freedom - even if vendor lock-in is somehow eliminated - and biometric data.

I dont think reputable alt-coins with liquidity could turn into 11mil->700$ in an hour, so i consider it pretty safe to assume that 11 million wasnt actually 11 million: it doesnt matter if nobody wants it. Nevertheless, great work on processing such emotional burden.

I wonder how many site operators are aware of the underlying issue with leasing your site to CF, how much false positives and false negatives Cloudflare has, and if there are any alternatives.

the archive website didnt write that article nor do they fund it. Their business model might be ridiculous, but they pay their reporters using that.

Hey, is the loading screen implemented by the game itself or does dotbigbang measure and provide that? In the latter case, could you make it so it shows progress? Im no web designer but i think its crucial in rather resource-heavy settings and/or the potential of old devices.

In my opinion, opposite, Unity just pulled its oligopoly strings. It wasnt bad management or desperate business choices; they knew the state of the industry.

Its completely the freedom aspect for me. Sure, Apple wont let me down because that would impact their business, but what if they did? Its also a thousand times better to be 100% sure you can modify your electronics without any fear of getting rejected like its vehicle insurance.
Re:Sob story about dead grandma tricks Microsoft AI into solving CAPTCHA

I see two futures ahead: one with "free" content (data harvesting) remaining alive through remote attestation, physical key verification, phone verification etc. and one with completely paid and exclusive communities scattered around with only a few percent being able to access a meaningful amount of information. Maybe both. But things dont seem to be as bright as some AI lovers make it to be. Hopefully im just being unrealistically pessimistic and open governance prevails, somehow.

How can you verify that? Other than, you know, "something that a anti-crypto bro on the Internet told you?"
I'm being slightly salty here but i dont get the backlash on crypto. It has a huge potential for safeguarding privacy (Monero) and avoiding corporate walled gardens and banks.

While i agree, the issue is the target audience. If this was directed at more technical and knowledgeable tech-savvy people one-upping their game, i would be very glad and thankful for a shell script. However, its not. Its a potential starting point for being, in cool nerd terms, webmaster, and that has its own set of responsibilites and habits, habits like not downloading files and packages without checking first. While some might change the habit after learning more, i doubt that many will do that.
Re:Tech Independence

While i get the pain of users, i've observed that habits stick and only a weak 5-20% of the learners actually drop convenient-but-insecure habits (downloading untrusted files without inspection beforehand) because convinence always wins over. I wouldnt change the system but definitely mention (more than once) the risks involved with what they are doing at the moment and to inspect the code later when they learn more.

Thats not the best counterargument, because Bitcoin has privacy qualities by default. You can hop on to any block explorer and accept every address as another user, but you cant verify that (without expensive analysis, on a case-by-case basis) those are not owned by the same guy. Same with Tor, while some data like bridge usage is being collected somehow (i havent looked into it) you cant reliably prove that thousands/millions are using it to protect their privacy and resist censorship.
Re:Geographic ‘hot spots’ for cigarette and firearm deaths in the U.S.

There definitely should be a scientific limit for addictiveness, meth versus cigarettes for example. I dont quite care if somebody can scientifically stop taking an addictive substance with reasonable self-discipline but it becomes a problem and elimination of the freedom status if its too addictive that it effectively takes over your brain.

Teaching newbies 'independence' by downloading random untrusted files off the internet and running them as system admin...not a cool guide i would say.
