PowerShell is built on top of .Net Core, which is also cross-platform.

It does pipe objects on all 3 platforms.

PowerShell Core is cross-platform. It runs on Mac, Linux and Windows.

Re:Rams [video] on Wednesday April 08, 2020 @03:19PM (#22816078)

Most of it is in German. so i had to read subtitles. there is an English version, but (at least for now), it's not free. (I'm not complaining, I'm letting you all know)

It was mostly about the man, and less about his work. i would've preferred the reverse. of course, it's on the label...

I liked it, but i didn't love it. I'm gonna watch it again on a PC (instead of Chromecasting to my TV, and maybe in English) and screenshot the products that caught my eye.

There are other docus about him, too.

Re:Show HN: Export HN Favorites to a CSV File on Sunday April 05, 2020 @09:43PM (#22790244)

Can someone convert it to Bel?

Re:Show HN: Export HN Favorites to a CSV File on Sunday April 05, 2020 @04:46PM (#22788575)

Hi Dan,

That's great news! Is there a way to be notified (eg, via email) when this comes out?

Thanks.

Re:James Burke Connections, Trigger Effect (1978) on Friday March 20, 2020 @07:27PM (#22642790)

I love this series but Episode 1 is not the best in my opinion. I recommend watching Episodes 2 through 8, then go back and watch 1 and 10.

That YouTube channel only has 4 episodes, but the rest (including 2 more seasons) can be found on https://archive.org/details/ConnectionsByJamesBurke

Especially relevant given current circumstances. I'm sure that's why it was posted today.

Re:Show HN: HN reader that filters out COV**-19 and Coronavir** articles on Monday March 09, 2020 @12:18AM (#22522956)

I agree, and I read major news sources online to get my recommended daily supply of bad news.

I'd prefer to keep HN for fun tech news.

Re:One billion Android devices at risk of hacking on Friday March 06, 2020 @03:47PM (#22507154)

From https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/4457705

"Pixel phones get Android version updates for at least 3 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store".

My Pixel (1st gen) no longer gets updates as of a few months ago. I might flash an open source Android ROM, such as LineageOS.

Re:When you watch a PowerPoint presentation, what do you hate on Friday February 21, 2020 @01:40AM (#22381349)

Too many words on a slide and too small a font (contrast Lawrence Lessig's slides [0] or Dick Hardt's [1]). Looping animated gifs (especially when they're overused). Bad fonts, colors, layout. Monotonous delivery (e.g. saying ”I'm excited” without excitement in your voice).

NOTE, I just sat through 2 days of slides, so I'm a little cranky.
