I spent >5years solo building a game that you can probably complete within an hour. Based on the reviews though, 95% of people still really enjoy it, which was a relief. It also feels very validating to read the opinions in here.

the game: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/adventures-of-kidd/id111277721...

oh sweet
Wondering how hard it would be to build something that takes a picture of ingredients on a food label for text recognition, which feeds into this... or something like this

Is this proposing a spotify like royalty payment to software developers on the platform too then ? Seems like a bad idea.

All that work just to skip a telephone interview ey. I suppose it was for fun initially anyway.

Re:TestFlight Beta Testing on Thursday October 23, 2014 @03:56PM (#8500367)
Yeah I think it was apparent that was the plan when they acquired them. It just took them soo long to get it integrated. Using testflight as it was, was good but it was a little painful. This in comparison should be a lot more simplified and smooth.

The first line says "these allegations are 100% false" though
Re:How Memorizing “$19.05” Can Help You Outsmart the MTA on Friday September 05, 2014 @07:39PM (#8276868)
In the situation you are travelling with a kid who is eligible for free travel, rather than going through the barriers you should've just spoken to the the person on duty. Theres always at least 1 person standing by one of the barriers that would let you through.. takes like 5 seconds longer but doesn't involved getting munched :)
Re:Why a Dead Alkaline Battery Bounces [video] on Friday September 05, 2014 @05:51AM (#8273049)
What would the inside of a recharged battery look like I wonder.
>I'm sorry but I fail to see what this post is for. You made a post complaining about someone else's post (of which should not have been made in the first place) trying too win over people of whom have no opinion on the matter?

weeeeell, if he's the founder, he does have a right to defend his companies reputation (that said, i don't agree with the way he's handled it).

This is fantastic. How long is a whiteboards lifetime ?
Text is also a feature I'd like to see. Sometimes its easier to just type something than gesture each letter
Re:Top 10 One-person Startups on Thursday August 07, 2014 @11:49AM (#8148331)
Im not a founder so my knowledge is somewhat limited, but from what I see around me most of the known or more 'successful' startups tend to have at least 2 founders. There must be some reason/correlation behind that right ?
Re:Top 10 One-person Startups on Thursday August 07, 2014 @11:45AM (#8148306)
I'll accept that point but I still don't think its the same. My thinking is that these companies pretty much grew with the internet, which played a pretty big role in their success and I just don't see the internet growing in that same fashion today.

That said, the way we use the internet today is changing which is why I don't think its exactly impossible but would question how difficult it would be in comparison to 20years ago.

Re:Top 10 One-person Startups on Thursday August 07, 2014 @11:21AM (#8148151)
The top 2 (Amazon & Ebay) where founded in almost a different internet age. It makes wonder if a solo founder could create such a large company today.
Re:Top 10 One-person Startups on Thursday August 07, 2014 @11:18AM (#8148131)
I believe its ranked by valuation and/or users/subscribers

I have a feeling the guys at King disagree with you.

Re:Show HN: InstaLove – Tinder on Autopilot on Wednesday July 16, 2014 @05:37PM (#8044750)
It sounds like a neat problem to work on. I imagine a few awkward situations where the algo has "slightly" miscalculated though.
Re:Show HN: InstaLove – Tinder on Autopilot on Wednesday July 16, 2014 @05:26PM (#8044695)
Perhaps I've misunderstood and just mistaken but is the auto-swiping random ? As in, Will it swipe yes or no randomly to people ?
Its probably the firehose via one of the two data providers, is why the service isn't free. Datasift is one of said providers, can't remember the name of the other.
Re:Ask HN: Did you start a company whilst employed? on Monday June 09, 2014 @06:56AM (#7867815)
Do you know of any other way around this, other than going to your employer explicitly ?
Re:CityMapper – Point to Point City Directions on Thursday May 08, 2014 @12:46PM (#7716223)
I believe they power themselves using open sourced data like that from Transport For London. I think they also plug into some other apis for things like cycling routes.
