Re:React-map-gl – React components for Mapbox GL JS on Wednesday August 30, 2017 @12:17PM (#15133405)
It would be nice if you animated the position changes to avoid the jumpiness.
Re:React-map-gl – React components for Mapbox GL JS on Wednesday August 30, 2017 @12:16PM (#15133396)
Seconded, in our case we haven't yet but its on the roadmap.
Re:React-map-gl – React components for Mapbox GL JS on Wednesday August 30, 2017 @12:15PM (#15133388)
You can get the mapbox-gl map instance by using a ref and then grabbing the mapbox-gl map off of that (but not documented or officially supported).
Re:React-map-gl – React components for Mapbox GL JS on Tuesday August 29, 2017 @01:35PM (#15126039)
Having used this, its not without its issues.

  * Adds a performance penalty over straight Mapbox-GL.
  * No support for animations / flyovers / etc.
  * You have to give width/height in pixels for map size.
  * Can't introspect map to get layer / point data w/o hacks.
The recent ver 3.0 was a big improvement.
Re:Google Badwolf: Temporal graph store abstraction layer on Thursday October 22, 2015 @01:56PM (#10433732)
The storage abstraction layer is also a shared concept, even down to providing only a free RAM implementation.
Re:Zethos – Speed reading tool in 1 kb on Wednesday March 12, 2014 @09:23AM (#7385374)
I wrote one of these things(bookmarklet) but I never really use it. Reading in this fashion while faster just isn't that enjoyable in my experience.
Re:Zethos – Speed reading tool in 1 kb on Wednesday March 12, 2014 @09:22AM (#7385368)
I made one with those features(except that pause doesn't jump to that word)

Re:Zethos – Speed reading tool in 1 kb on Wednesday March 12, 2014 @09:21AM (#7385360)
I made one too that has key bindings as well: http://www.davidhampgonsalves.com/spritz-like-rsvp-reader-bo...
Re:Show HN: A Speed Reading Bookmarklet on Wednesday March 05, 2014 @06:25PM (#7350729)
Made the same thing yesterday: http://www.davidhampgonsalves.com/spritz-like-rsvp-reader-bo...

HN will probably see a lot of these in the next few days.

Edit: Some users requested keybindings and I found them useful(pause, skip, rewind, etc).

That sounds pretty good but how does she decide whats on her list?

Not to be nitpick but is it pretty well proven that there are other self-aware animals.

Love this comment. The biased pointing fingers at the biased.
Re:An HTML5 app turned native in 10 minutes with PhoneGap Build? on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @10:03AM (#6847271)
Yup, sorry you are right. I've heard of people using a service like http://www.appstoreuploader.com but I haven't personally.
Re:An HTML5 app turned native in 10 minutes with PhoneGap Build? on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @09:55AM (#6847225)
Iconic looks really nice, and I especially like the component documentation.

When it comes to the overwhelming number of mobile js frameworks its hard to get an idea of speed without running each of the demos individually and comparing. Do you have any rough stats compared to Sencha?

Re:An HTML5 app turned native in 10 minutes with PhoneGap Build? on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @09:41AM (#6847117)
Are we calling phonegap/cordova native now?

Phonegap build is nice if you don't use any prosperity /closed source plugins.

Re:Show HN: Smooth & Fluid Animated Heatmap on Monday December 02, 2013 @10:05AM (#6834024)
This is my entry for a local contest(http://www.apps4halifax.ca/) in Halifax NS. Was hoping to get some suggestions for improvements or comments.
But it is interesting that the title change resulted in it making it to the front page.
Re:Finalterm - modern terminal done right on Friday October 18, 2013 @06:33PM (#6574429)
This looks like a cool project but lately I've been really enjoying a Guake terminal(http://guake.org) + fish shell(http://fishshell.com) combo.
Re:Show HN: Escape from Bookmark Hell on Monday September 30, 2013 @09:29AM (#6469463)
Really like that the whole thing is a bookmarklet, good choice.
I have a pretty short commute(5km) and live in Halifax but with some good thermal underwear, gloves, jacket I was able to ride all winter except for about 20 days. On 23 mm slicks too but I'm getting something better this winter.

Gear makes a big difference.

I really like the idea of selling/giving away incomplete projects. Seems like this site could easily facilitate that(don't think I saw it mentioned).
