DropZap! Blast from the past, congrats on the new release. Not available in Europe though.
Recently I asked 4o to ‘try again’ when it failed to respond fully, it started telling me about some song called Try Again. It seems to lose context a lot in the conversations now.
Things 3, really polished todo/personal task manager app. I also use on iOS and Apple Watch. Blackhole, sound routing e.g recording os audio when screen recording.
They messed up the pricing time and again sadly, then they made it free and now they killed the classroom product.

Still actively used for releases in the demoscene.
Re:Turn Your iPhone into a Dumb Phone on Sunday May 26, 2024 @07:06AM (#40481232)
No mention of the iPhone’s built in ‘Assistive Access’ mode. That would be my first port of call for turning it into a dumb phone.
I’ll never forget the sense of wellbeing I felt after my first “sun holiday” further south, it was revelatory.
Re:Ask HN: How often do you restart your computer? on Tuesday February 20, 2024 @05:36AM (#39439716)
Only when I need Keynote to recognise a newly installed font.
Re:Ask HN: Who are your most treasured live coders? on Friday February 09, 2024 @11:42AM (#39316780)
There's a fairly substantial Demoscene live coding community with shader coding and non-competitive jams (with an archive here: https://livecode.demozoo.org/)

You can take a look at the final of the Shader Showdown at Revision last year here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ7KAD0NyGw

There's a TIC-80 'bytejam' every Monday Night (8 or 9pm UK time depending on the week) on https://www.twitch.tv/fieldfxdemo

And you can catch some previous VODs here: https://scenesat.com/videoarchive

Re:Ask HN: How does Apple CarPlay work? on Saturday January 27, 2024 @03:07PM (#39159305)
You can get a wireless CarPlay adapter for cheap and just leave that plugged in.

And that page 18 seems to have nothing to do with the car manufacturer.

I give up. Best of luck OP.
Re:Ask HN: Why can't ChatGPT respond in plain English? on Tuesday December 26, 2023 @05:55AM (#38770658)
Again, I can see that. I want to know what they actually tried and what the result is that they're unsatisfied with to take as a starting point.
Re:Ask HN: Why can't ChatGPT respond in plain English? on Monday December 25, 2023 @05:05PM (#38766578)
Very helpful reply, thanks. I use it every day and have no issues getting to to generate an appropriate tone for my responses so I want more concrete examples of the issues.

Can you give example prompts and responses?
Re:Tiny Code Christmas on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @04:28PM (#38701879)
The creator of Uxn/Varvara is actually doing TCC again this year and they have published code so you can take a look. Lots of approximations for avoiding square roots and trig. Good discussion on the discord about it.
Re:Ask HN: What is your most wanted HN feature? on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @01:20PM (#38699362)
I wish posts I just read wouldn’t disappear completely when I press the back button due to being flagged or whatever, especially if they’re on the front page. Happens enough to annoy me.
Re:Tiny Code Christmas on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @08:07AM (#38695034)
Highly variable based on your previous programming experience but it’s designed to not take up too much of your time.

Thanks for posting! I tried a Show HN and it got nowhere.

Show HN: Tiny Code Christmas

https://tcc.lovebyte.party/

Hi everyone,I'm one of the organisers of Tiny Code Christmas, an event designed to help people take their first steps in demoscene sizecoding with a Lua based fantasy console, either TIC-80 or PICO-8.There are new videos and challenges released every day from the 11th to the 22nd of December where you can learn classic demoscene effects and techniques as used in Byte Jams, Byte Battles, and...

Almost all of it was in English from what I saw on stream.
Re:Why is the iOS keyboard getting worse every year? on Tuesday November 21, 2023 @02:23PM (#38368627)
Yes. I had previously wondered if iOS keyboard usage could be used to track cognitive decline in Health, but the keyboard is declining faster than I am.
Re:Show HN: Obfuscating Lua on Wednesday November 15, 2023 @02:19PM (#38281080)
Somewhat tangential, pakettic[0] is a minifier for TIC-80 cartridges (a fantasy console) that use genetic algorithms to minimise and rearrange the Lua code to compress better in sizecoded demoscene competitions.
