Ask HN: What are the best platforms for AI-powered web apps?

So I'm currently doing research for a machine learning project I want to implement. Outside of work for free online courses, I've only ever done linear regression, both from scratch and using scikit-learn. I learned that doing what I want to do would require neural networks (deep learning, which is best done with a GPU). I have a few questions: 1. if I'm using prebuilt models (the app...

Ask HN: What is the best way to handle latency in a simple multiplayer game?

I'm making a multiplayer game. I'm just about done. I've got the mechanics worked out, I just need to handle latency in some way.The game: tron lightcycles, but to turn, the user must solve a math problem. What I've tried: 1. Update game state for every player every time either player changes direction. Why didn't it work? Not the best way to handle it (also got that math wrong somewhere, and...

I created Zealchain not only so that poor folks can lift themselves up, but also so that marginalized communities can share wealth within the community.

Zealchain consists of two products: ZEAL, the cryptocurrency, and ZNET, the Zealchain network.

You will be able to buy ZEAL in a couple of days on the altmarkets.io exchange -- 1 ZEAL will start out as less than 1 cent, very cheap, as it is a new cryptocurrency. Alternatively, you can mine ZEAL with the wallet downloadable at the site.

ZNET can be thought of an alternate Internet. It is, technically, called an alternate DNS root. Essentially, sites on ZNET can only be accessed with the ZNET chrome extension.

Registering a domain name on ZNET costs anywhere between 20 and 50 ZEAL, depending on your TLD.

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

Hey, I interviewed with them a year ago. Their captchas are actually harder than reCaptcha's.

Ask HN: How widespread is the use of steganography tools to share illegal porn?

Two friends told me that people use steganography tools like OpenPuff to hide illegal porn in seemingly innocuous images. One friend told me that ebaumsworld has archives of child pornography. After being told this, I decided to start a project that focused on detecting whether or not an image had a hidden file in it (steganalysis), and eventually seeing what that file is (as a movement to...

Ask HN: Could these machine learning projects produce the desired results?

Summary: 1. predict depth from a single image with an accuracy of 100% (Andrew Ng and Saxena have done this with an accuracy of 67%), then, 2. use a training set of real 3d models to calculate voxels outside of a test 3d model (ideally one generated by the first project) (first predicting a single voxel, then adding that voxel to the set of known voxels, then using the new set of voxels to...

Ask HN: Latency issues for simple multiplayer game?

I am making this game multiplayer: http://jsfiddle.net/PxpVr/16/embedded/result/I've created the lobby and have basic controls worked out. Now I'm brainstorming on how to sync players' movements. Can anyone help? I know there also come problems with latency, but I'm wondering if a game so simple would have these problems. Thanks in advanceStack is python/django, postgresql, jquery, using...
