It could have been simpler and just as free in Yahoo!Pipes. RIP.

But so do most other programming languages and frameworks.

Re:Create React apps using Kotlin on Saturday November 04, 2017 @03:26PM (#15626474)
So the kotlin code gets compiled to Javascript or to Java bytecode?
You don't like the site so you want to remove your ads from it. Wouldn't it be better to put ads so their readers can go to your site and plead to them there?
Re:ThePirateBay.org is making users mine Bitcoins on Saturday September 16, 2017 @01:00AM (#15262976)
Of course you can block coinhive.min.js with your ad blocker to avoid this. Or just use NoScript.
Re:Autopilot Full Self-Driving Demonstration [video] on Saturday November 19, 2016 @04:00PM (#12995639)
Press F12 go to the console and type `document.querySelector('video').playbackRate=0.33;`
Re:New Features in C# 7.0 on Friday November 18, 2016 @01:19PM (#12988837)
Local functions look like they follow Python's reasons for avoiding anonymous functions in favor of nested functions.

It's a nice touch you can define the function at the end, looks clearer.

Re:Live Presidential Forecast on Tuesday November 08, 2016 @11:03PM (#12905958)
Can't people just decide to create a new SV somewhere and do it? It's just people you need to move.
Re:The Long, Remarkable History of the GIF on Sunday August 21, 2016 @10:45PM (#12333778)
Here's a bookmarklet that gives you video controls: http://slbkbs.org/jsgif/

It lets you play it backwards, frame by frame and change the speed.

But then they'll eat the snacks and be unable to play. What if you use similarly shaped objects like pens and erasers?
Re:Book Piracy as Peer Preservation on Tuesday July 26, 2016 @12:47PM (#12166937)
I just googled and it seems like the users have moved over to https://www.epublibre.org/foro/

On the front page it shows a warning about how applications for editor are closed due to having too many. So it seems the community is still alive and well. Here's their documentation as an epub (in Spanish): https://www.epublibre.org/libro/detalle/2398

Re:Book Piracy as Peer Preservation on Tuesday July 26, 2016 @11:54AM (#12166484)
There was a very nice spanish community that would scan/ocr books and convert them into epubs. They had very high standards and their forums were full with epub documentation, best practices, boilerplate/skeleton files, scripts, etc. To the point their curated epubs were better than those of some publishers.

It all died when one of the founders was arrested.

Edit: it seems my information was incorrect, the site's owner sold it and the new owners wrapped the download links with malware and closed the forum. Users left and the site closed.

They've even learned to pick up coins and use them in a vending machine in exchange for rewards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qSsVBPh9Lo
Re:Cloudflare ReCAPTCHA De-Anonymizes Tor Users on Wednesday July 20, 2016 @01:07AM (#12127017)
Having a dynamic IP from the 3rd world, I can't help but notice how so many of the sites I visit are behind CloudFlare. 70% of the time I have to solve a captcha the first time I enter a domain during my browser session. This space could really do with more competitors on their same level.
Re:Show HN: Is Pokémon GO Available? on Monday July 11, 2016 @05:48PM (#12074998)
Doesn't seem to work, I just checked Australia and United States and it said No to both of them.
Nintendo could sell a $60 mobile game, no IAP. Problem solved.
Re:Nintendo is up 35% on Pokemon Go success on Monday July 11, 2016 @02:09PM (#12073005)
Would work for malls and fairs. There's people using lures (that attract Pokemon for all player around) and selling lemonade already.
Steam does have region-locked keys though. And some games don't have a purchase button from my region.

Re:Show HN: New calendar app idea on Tuesday June 07, 2016 @03:50AM (#11853021)
You could hijack the scroll only when the mouse is over the phone's screen not the entire page. Very interesting UI!
This is from 2014 when SteamOS was just coming out.
As another poster said, you can use Meteor's Tracker and ReactiveVar modules to do it. Here's a standalone package that doesn't require the Meteor platform: https://www.npmjs.com/package/meteor-standalone-tracker
Re:Blocklist of all Facebook domains on Saturday May 28, 2016 @09:37AM (#11791610)
Because his list blocks facebook in other sites but lets you use facebook itself if you ever want to?
