Re:The Facebook Timeline is creepy as hell on Friday September 23, 2011 @02:47PM (#3031097)
Currently playing about with the timeline, I can't see any easy way to choose which list sees your past posts, unless you want to manually go through every single one and change it.
Re:Facebook gets redesigned on Wednesday September 21, 2011 @12:44PM (#3022697)
I've had this for a couple of weeks (weirdly). You never get used to it and you always feel like you're missing something.

Even more annoying is the little status updates in the top right, above the sidebar showing everyone of your friends recent activity (which I really liked) seems to have gone now.

Re:Mozilla Glow: Awesome Firefox 4 live download day map on Tuesday March 22, 2011 @12:35PM (#2355115)
In Australia it might have something to do with the fact it's currently 3:35 am
I seriously think companies wait for another lawsuit to appear before suing. To try and minimise bad press.
Re:Use git+github in the classroom on Thursday February 24, 2011 @05:59AM (#2257519)
Thanks for posting this, I've been paying for the micro plan for a few months for my projects. I had no idea students could apply for a free plan.
Re:Everything that can go wrong with Windows Phone 7 update does on Tuesday February 22, 2011 @11:15PM (#2253007)
Update went fine on an unbranded HTC Trophy for me, although having to deal with the Zune software is a minus.
Re:Google: Bing Is Cheating, Copying Our Search Results on Tuesday February 01, 2011 @09:50AM (#2165651)
But then still, the Bing toolbar is watching what you're searching for and recording that information. That's a pretty big privacy issue
Never had a big problem with the Linux version. It does video, with good quality, and that's all you really need Skype for, a flashy UI or other pointless features just detracts from Skype's main purpose.
Well, I think Skype only interferes with Flash apps, non flash apps that use the camera are unaffected.
Re:Mark by Mark Zuckerberg - Fashion for Men on Saturday January 22, 2011 @06:58PM (#2131391)
It almost isn't, you can click items to buy them
Re:AppHarbor (YC W11): "Azure Done Right" on Friday January 21, 2011 @06:34AM (#2127111)
I second this, you can install straight from an installer and get a Git command line, Git GUI and a plugin for VS. It really is almost a one click process.
What happens when it's cold and the extra heat is lost? Requiring extra heating and therefore more energy.
Re:71% of students learn more about IT at home than school on Friday January 07, 2011 @07:54PM (#2081763)
The title is a little misleading considering the actual title is, "Pupils think they know more than ICT teachers".
Re:Revealed: The guy behind IMDb on Saturday January 01, 2011 @01:17PM (#2057990)
Thanks for that, a movie database with an API is a god send for anyone who's had to deal with IMDB's text files.
Re:Github 404 page on Friday December 31, 2010 @06:05PM (#2056725)
Make sure you move your mouse over the image.
Re:Reporting a bug on a fragile analysis on Wednesday November 17, 2010 @05:40AM (#1913764)
I think that was mostly down to IE9 using hardware acceleration, which Chrome doesn't have yet.
Re:Land of Lisp is finally out...and has a music video. on Friday October 29, 2010 @01:38PM (#1848129)
It's fixed for me now, it may have just been my net connection. The descriptions are awesome!
No, but i'd still prefer the later.
I suspect the roaming charges at the peak of Mt. Everest are far more profitable than in a city.
I wish phone carriers would focus on getting permanent 3G to places less remote and where people live and use phones.
Re:Land of Lisp is finally out...and has a music video. on Wednesday October 27, 2010 @05:24AM (#1837879)
Clicking on them doesn't do anything for me (Safari), what do they do?
Re:Change your color temperature to fix your sleep patterns on Monday October 25, 2010 @07:38PM (#1832135)
I'm using f.lux right now. I'm pretty sure I first heard of it on HN, not sure why the URL hasn't been posted before though.
Re:Dawn of a New Day on Monday October 25, 2010 @01:34PM (#1830723)
I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't the person who wrote it.
Re:A Google Suggest Venn Diagram Generator on Monday October 25, 2010 @01:28PM (#1830702)
Who searches, "Why is Europe so warm"? It's freezing here at the moment.
Re:Drill breaks through to trapped Chilean miners on Saturday October 09, 2010 @11:20AM (#1775129)
I read in a BBC article that it'll take around an hour per person
Re:How Steve Ballmer told me what to do with my iPad on Wednesday October 06, 2010 @06:43PM (#1766153)
I was at the event and quite a large amount of people there had iPads too.
Re:Scott Adams: Wireless Voice Calls are Obsolete on Wednesday September 29, 2010 @04:55PM (#1741116)
They're definitely not obsolete, at least outside of technology companies. Many businesses use a fax machine on a daily basis to send documents and order forms, as it's much easier than scanning things and then emailing them.
