Deny access to contacts and push notifications, use DNS based ad blocker should take care of those problems.

Are people actually typing thought provoking, in-depth analysis into Twitter?

It’s £11.99/month if you subscribe via the website, instead of an iOS subscription.
I actually switched away from Apple Music when I subscribed to YouTube premium, so it’s only really cost me £2 extra per month.

YouTube music is definitely not as good as Apple Music (or Spotify) but it’s acceptable for the combined cost.

Motion One is the non-react version of Framer Motion.

Looks pretty similar to the font used on the Tyne and Wear Metro[0], though I have heard the metro's signage is made up of hand-me-downs from the tube anyway.

I have the same problem with react native.
I think it depends how good you need the translation to be.

I’d say current automation is ‘good enough’ for most cases, but you wouldn’t rely on it for translating a contract and it would probably still miss a lot of slang and local dialects.

Re:Apple Vision Pro Is Apple's New VR Headset on Monday June 05, 2023 @03:08PM (#36201678)
Agreed. I’d like to have seen Apple use some of their massive cash warchest to subsidise the platform until it’s on its feet.
Re:Bank Failures Visualized on Wednesday May 03, 2023 @02:33AM (#35798803)
So is this just a problem with the US banking system, or are banks in other regions failing too?
Re:I Quit Reddit in 1 Day on Wednesday April 19, 2023 @02:41PM (#35631764)
Yes, I got hooked on /r/all and I ended up adding reddit to my nextdns ban list to force a total break.

Haven't missed it, it was a real time sink with very little positive return.

According to an Elon tweet it was due to a frozen valve.
At 20,000 copies sold (according to the site), it seems you get rich by writing the book!
Re:DPReview is being shut down by Amazon today on Tuesday April 11, 2023 @07:31AM (#35523580)
Not only is it still working for me (12:29 UK time), but their most recent article (published today) is titled “Most significant cameras of the DPReview era: Part 1”, implying more content to come!

Patched in mid 2022, unfortunately.
AWS have an integration for Draw.io[1] so no copy/pasting needed!

How much longer would it have taken if you just used open source graphics and search engines instead of GPT and Midjourney?
Why use this instead of the official packages?

Thanks, sometimes business jargon can be pretty difficult to guess!

Neither HN or Reddit use Cloudflare, but I’m having problems with both too.

Wonder if there's a bigger routing issue or possible DDOS attempts against both sites?

I think Little Snitch does a good job, but it would be easy to see any leaks at the router/hardware firewall if there's a real concern.
Re:HSBC to Buy UK Arm of Silicon Valley Bank on Monday March 13, 2023 @12:24PM (#35137931)
IIRC, it stopped standing for anything when they moved the HQ to London in the 90s (following the takeover of Midland Bank), and it became HSBC Holdings plc.

They’ll be taking on some debt too.

They’ve paid £1 (symbolic purchase price) but it’ll cost them a lot more.

This guy[1] was refunded £70,000 he willingly transferred to scammers! Hard to imagine the same thing happening in the crypto-sphere.

Thanks, I've actually looked at that in the past, but I'm not sure what their throughput is, and I'd have to configure each device individually as the router I have can't be configured for it.

I think I've still got my HE IPv6 t-shirt somewhere, from when I completed their readiness quiz so years ago!

I'd love to embrace ipv6, but my ISP's official line, for as long as I can remember, is 'planning it, details to come'.

I don't expect them to move forward on it until significant sites become ipv6 only as they've admitted that they have more than enough ipv4 addresses for their subscriber base, so there's very little incentive for them to do anything atm.

There's a CCP Grey video which take a decent stab at untangling everything:

I just wish Hetzner had a UK PoP, I would jump on that in a second!
