Re:Generating high-quality thumbnails from videos on Thursday November 14, 2024 @06:21AM (#42135151)
It's fixed in macOS Sequoia and iOS 18.
There is a feature called "Dim Flashing Lights" available on iOS, and the algorithm with multiple implementations is on Github : https://github.com/apple/VideoFlashingReduction
From Apple Platform Security Guide [0] :

> The individual messages are encrypted much like messages in iMessage are. After the devices are paired, each device generates a symmetric 256-bit AES key that gets stored in the device’s keychain. This key can encrypt and authenticate the BLE advertisements that communicate the device’s current activity to other iCloud-paired devices using AES256 in GCM mode, with replay protection measures.

Re:Say hello to Google Allo: a smarter messaging app on Wednesday September 21, 2016 @12:38AM (#12545441)
In many countries, "allo" is the first word of a phone conversation.

But Google Allo doesn't do any phone call, I think it will confuse users.

Are there people working on JS Engine ?

I would like to have more info on why JS create unnecessary new function objects if there are only called in the parent function scope.

It's useful for the new users too because previous discussions has a lot of comments to read.

By the way, it would be great if there would be a "Related" widget with the number of comments somewhere in the comment page.

I think your colleague is using Snapshot[0], which is a part of Fastlane[1]

It's very common to return the centroid of the matched location (city, state or country).
Re:Show HN: Give 7B people an instant physical address on Wednesday August 10, 2016 @09:17AM (#12261410)
Love the concept, but P2 code depends on the country, I think it should not be resilient on geopolitical address. For example, in France, states have changed recently (change in name and merging).
