yeah, this one also gets to my bones. and then you cant return every deposit-taxed bottle everywhere - but only in stores where it's sold. then some friends leave bottles at your place which you cannot return anywhere near... what a mess

in systems level programming (the introductory course before operating systems in our university) this was one of the first misconceptions to be eradicated. you cannot trust malloc to return null.

my first instinct would be to let the triggerline move with the scrollposition, i.e. at scrollTop = 0 the triggerline is at 0vh and at scrollTop=max at 100vh... am i missing something?

Re:Ask HN: Windows 11 development environment discontinued? on Wednesday February 26, 2025 @12:10PM (#43185668)
that's exactly the thing I'm trying to avoid. since I really don't need windows very often I prefer to change win-vms like underpants (allowing me to deactivate defender/winupdates fearless) and would not like to spend hours for setting up win from scratch. I had to set up win11 for a friend a few days ago and - let me tell you - that experience sucked hard

Then I'm curious: is it possible to know when we know everything there is to know?

But for the few times I have to work on "legacy" WPF code I relied on [1], which is "temporarily down" (since October '24).Having used up my slmgr /rearm-s I am now confronted with the evaluation-has-expired hourly shutdowns.Does anyone have a clue whether Microsoft is really having issues with providing a VM-image for...

i thought risc-v is >10years "old". how long is an ISA "very new"?
what would you count as low latency terminal?
i couldnt come up with a proof for the initial problem (n^6+n^3+2n^2 is a multiple of 6 for every n)

because it's not true (simply insert 1, 2, 4 or 5)

clicking the link all the text seems to restyle multiple times - the fontsize seems to flash 'bigger' at least twice before settling. looks very unsettling.
