Re:OpenAI's agents talked to each other through the CPU Cache on Thursday October 29, 2026 @02:35AM (#50285253)
As someone who develops microVMs it doesn't really matter to me that they were asked to find a way, I really care that they found any way at all. MicroVMs aim to protect against malicious workloads and that clearly didn't work here.
Re:Meta's Muse is fantastic for web scraping on Friday October 02, 2026 @01:33AM (#49930138)
FYI Muse smashes through those captchas natively without prompting.
Re:The August 17 outage, and the work ahead on Friday August 21, 2026 @03:14AM (#49384838)
GH didn't collapse so it's not impossible that they already implement these measures:

> At peak, web/API error rates were approximately 20%, while archive and raw-content downloads reached approximately 50%.

Agreed. Not a direct answer but this should be interesting: https://github.com/cyphar/filepath-securejoin
How would I go about using my own style?
Compare the cheapest Mac ($1000) to an $800 ASUS:

https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-air

https://www.amazon.com/i5-6300HQ-keyboard-Microsoft-signatur...

The ASUS has:

- a larger screen

- a better CPU

- a better GPU

- as much memory

- more storage

Apple build overpriced low-end perf laptops with high build quality, I'd rather have performance at a way lower price.
Re:Google Earth Redesigned on Tuesday April 18, 2017 @10:08AM (#14138903)
Chrome-only and that's if there's no bug. I have the latest version of Chrome on Ubuntu but my GPU (GTX 960m, latest drivers) is blocked and the --ignore-gpu-blacklist flag doesn't work.
Re:Cayley – An open-source graph database on Saturday April 08, 2017 @06:42PM (#14069468)
Can anyone give concrete examples of datasets that are better suited for a graph database and why?
Re:Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks? on Saturday April 08, 2017 @03:37AM (#14065812)
What's it called exactly? I can't find it.
Re:Deploying Brotli for static content on Friday April 07, 2017 @04:06PM (#14063092)
I wonder who will win in the long term between Brotli and zstd. http://facebook.github.io/zstd/
Re:Planck.js – JavaScript rewrite of Box2D physics library on Thursday April 06, 2017 @12:00PM (#14051769)
It baffles me that all those JS physics library never provide proper docs or even an API reference and always link to the C++ Box2D manual as if it was an acceptable alternative. Always have to guess what the JS equivalent is but even then you're in for a surprise: https://github.com/shakiba/planck.js/blob/master/CHANGES.md
If you're used to dynamic languages, it gives you type safety and performance for little effort.

I love Python but always wished for a simple, type-safe language; Go gives me that. It's not worse than Python IMHO.

You're right. This was an amazing couple of posts anyway, I hope you continue the series!
Re:Adventures in JIT compilation: Part 1 – an interpreter on Thursday March 23, 2017 @08:36PM (#13945624)
This looks like an AOT compiler to me, not a JIT compiler.
Re:Paxos in 25 Lines on Tuesday March 21, 2017 @05:46PM (#13926561)
> Most languages have no line length limit

Some languages do?

Re:To www or not www on Saturday March 18, 2017 @06:00PM (#13903730)
I have trouble believing this to be honest. Any hard evidence?
Re:Why the bounce rate of AMP pages is so high on Friday March 10, 2017 @10:31AM (#13839299)
Agreed. As a user, I couldn't care less about your bounce rate.
So you can't run projects for free on Flex like you can on Standard?
Re:Partial WebAssembly backend for the GNU toolchain on Saturday March 04, 2017 @07:50PM (#13793928)
If we can get closer though, I suspect most people wouldn't be bothered.
The moon is actually 2 pixels on my screen
I honestly don't think people outside the HN echo chamber care that much.
Re:Getting started with vim on Sunday February 19, 2017 @03:05PM (#13681674)
First of all it's far easier to learn than most people make it out to be. As for why I decided to learn vim: I grew tired of having to switch IDEs depending on the language I use and most importantly memorizing their different sets of keybindings. Now I only have to learn vim's keybindings.
Re:Getting started with vim on Sunday February 19, 2017 @03:02PM (#13681656)
Have you remapped Caps lock to Escape yet?
Re:Announcing GVFS: Git Virtual File System on Friday February 03, 2017 @04:56PM (#13563685)
> Google's dev infra is pretty amazing and it's at least a decade ahead of anything else I've seen. Every single ex-Googler misses it quite a bit.

This may be naive but why not recreate it as an open source project?
