Typed Assembly Language—fascinating. But since the software is "All rights reserved," I don't know if it can be used beyond personal use.

Re:TiVo exiting legacy DVR business on Tuesday October 14, 2025 @12:14PM (#45581808)
Lon Seidman (lon.tv on YouTube) has been covering this closely, and the FCC is aware: https://youtu.be/0YmeEp_N6pY
The OpenBSD project is based in Calgary, btw.
As someone living in rural Nevada and served by Dollar General and Family Dollar stores, I agree. I don't see what problems out here would be solved by local cloud computing resources. The snippet provided doesn't go into detail.
Re:EasyOS – An experimental Linux distribution (2025) on Sunday October 05, 2025 @12:28PM (#45482883)
Barry Kauler is brilliant, but as he's the main driver behind the project, I worry that the bus factor for EasyOS is 1.

Re:Amelia Earhart's Reckless Final Flights on Wednesday June 04, 2025 @06:12PM (#44186094)
A 1993 article from the U.S. Naval Institute's Proceedings on how her lack of radio savvy was a major factor in the tragedy:

https://www.usni.org/magazines/naval-history-magazine/1993/d...

An example: she or somebody had a retractable antenna optimized for long-range high-frequency/shortwave radio removed prior to the flight—crazy!

Re:Mistaking Mary Magdalene on Thursday April 24, 2025 @07:59PM (#43788818)
I watched a bit of the coverage of Pope Francis' coffin being brought into St. Peter's basilica, and heard "Santa Maria Magdalena [pray for us]" chanted by the choir.

Also, the final episode of Martin Scorsese's "The Saints" series dropped, featuring her.

I used to visit that store once a week, just because.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiny_BASIC

"Tiny BASIC was designed by Dennis Allison and the People's Computer Company (PCC) in response to the open letter published by Bill Gates complaining about users pirating Altair BASIC, which sold for $150. Tiny BASIC was intended to be a completely free version of BASIC that would run on the same early microcomputers."

The article references the "Oh-My-God particle, the most energetic particle yet encountered. Here's the late John Walker's excellent piece on that:
