Or rather rate limit CI or something. Free repos that don't use large scale LLM activity to trigger a humongous amount of workload onto the github servers don't have to be caught in the crossfire.

Probably alluding to the fact that Europe owns the largest portion of the worldwide fleet.

Re:Performance Improvements in .NET 11
on Thursday September 17, 2026 @02:52AM (#49737262)
That is not my experience. Sure, the background of .NET is windows, but in the last decade or so it opened up to other platforms, and so many shops prefer deploying their .NET based applications to linux for multitude of reasons. Along with this comes linux oriented culture.
So windows culture is not tied to .NET per se, more so tied to certain shops I would say.
Speaking from anecdotal experience, I have no numbers on this :)

They didn't write a traditional proof, but a lean program, which can be used to validate proofs formally, using a computer. It's still up to humans to check wether the formalization is sensible, but the proof is correct.

Re:The Two Abstractions of System Design: Hide or Reduce

I'm not sure that your description of generalization coincides with the idea of modeling abstraction from TFA. Modeling abstraction is "about identifying what should leak and leveraging it". Generalization is about making something cover more cases. The technique to achieve these things can overlap of course, but the intention/goal is different.

While I agree with the overall sentiment in this thread, it should be clear that any body of water is highly dangerous for kids until they can swim. It is not disclosed in TFA if the kid was able to swim, but the average 5 year old in the USA is not.

Re:The Dark Night of Mathematics

I never felt that the theorems were the most useful part of mathematics, strange as that may sound. In my professional experience, math offers a framework, a language of expressing ideas in an exact way. It clears things up for the writer and the reader. It is like speech; would we stop talking if a machine could utter all phrases?

Ask HN: What rules does your team have for using AI in a durable codebase?
What guidelines/manifest do you have set up in your team for using AI responsibly to generate production code that has to be maintained long-term?
